    thanks
  2. Between this and the changes in women's precautionary testing, I'm not in much of a good mood these days. I'm taking a step back for a while to regroup. It is depressing what's going on right now everywhere and to know there's not a damn thing you can do about it but fight is wearing me down.

How are you on bumper stickers?
  5. Chief, I am sorry, that is true that Uof M requires stats for all its humanities courses. If you haven't already i will go on the thread to make amends. Were you a CJ major after you joined the force? If so that is who i think the major is designed for. They cops benefit greatly from it. But the sheer numbers of CJ majors now is staggering. That and the CSI major. there's only so many jobs for this narrowly designed major. But I stand by my opinion that personnel quality has gone down in the recent decade.
  6. Chief, I've been in criminal justice for 35 years and the quality of hires has drastically gone down since criminal justice majors have been insitituted at area colleges. They can't write, they can't reason, and my impression is that they are taking an easy major. I it's not a lie. It's not a fact. It's an opinion. You can post our conversation on the thread to that effect if you wish. Here's a little anecdote. We had a guy interview for a job with our Division. He had a B.A. in criminal justice. He could not understand why the department of Public Safety wouldn't hire him. He had the degree and he earned it while doing seven years at the 'Cut'. So I take Greek, spanish, graduate level statistics courses (like multi-variate regression analysis) I spend fifteen years in what I consider a make believe law enforcement department, get certified by the Police Training Commission as an instuctor and serve as THE education department for said make believe department. And I can now make the same salary as a semi-literate with a degree from Sojourner-Douglass (which by the way gives credit for 'life experiences' like having a job).
