  1. Andy, when you put messages where you did, in my profile, anyone who clicks on my profile can see the message. You put your telephone number in it and I was not sure you were aware that people could see it, so I deleted it. You need to be more careful about where you post private information.

I appreciate your message and understand your thinking. However, I do not feel that there is solidarity in numbers at the moment because AFSCME is in too tight with management. They have not said anything other than it not being fair. They alllowed the State to go against the MOU and lay off workers without discussing it as the MOU calls for. They are not enforcing that one sentence in the MOU which calls for a discussion to be held in an effort to assist displaced workers. The last time, I know for a fact the unions were notified the day it was announced in the news which is the same thing that happened when the first set of furloughs were announced in the news prior to the unions even being talked to. I have other reasons for my feelings ... some misrepresentations on your website.

You have every right to post your feelings and thoughts and to defend your employer on the thread. We have been waiting a long time for someone from AFSCME to do that and the fact that they have not has fueled the fire.

  2. I would suggest you do not use your real name ... that's not a good idea. Just a little advice.
  3. By the way, I don't play games and would never post your message to me in the thread. I'm above that kind of behavior.
  4. Please feel free to post on the thread. You are invited and welcome to do so. I would prefer open communications and not PM's or email. I am very dedicated to the thread and those that have taken the time all of these months to be there for state workers. Therefore, open communications are a must. I have no hard feelings towards you personally. I just do not support the same things that the organization you work for supports. Taking money from already struggling state workers is wrong. Charging public employees fair share fees is wrong unless AFSCME can get an MOU that includes every single right, including the right to strike, that a normal union has. In the public sector, that is an impossibility so it should be left as a choice that the employees have whether or not to join a union or pay fees to one. Thanks. B4
