  1. UPDATE 5/23: Here's a list of dates I'm still missing (doesn't necessarily mean a school is open this week, might just be missing the game from the schedule): - Calvert Hall: Weeks 4,8,10 (Week 4 OR 10 is vs. SFA) - Gilman: Weeks 3,5 - Loyola: Weeks 9,10 - Saint Frances: Weeks 4,10 (Week 4 OR 10 is vs. CHC) - Saint Paul's: Weeks 2,3 - Annapolis Area Christian: Week 4 - Friends: Weeks 1,3,4,6,9 (2 of these are vs. OLMC) - Mount Carmel: Weeks 1,4,6,9 (2 of these vs. Friends) - Bishop McNamara: Weeks 1,4 - Fort Hill: Week 6 - Northern Garrett: Week 5 - Douglass (Baltimore City): Week 4 - Benjamin Franklin: Week 1 - Bluford Drew Jemison: Week 1 - FAET: Week 1 - Southwestern: Week 1 - Western Tech: Week 1 - Lansdowne: Week 1 - Sparrows Point: Week 7 - Central Maryland Christian (Home School): Weeks 0,8 - Maryland Christian (Home School): Weeks 7,9 - Francis Scott Key: Week 7 - Thomas Johnson: Week 1 - Hancock: Week 9 - SEED: Weeks 2,4,7,8 - Avalon: Weeks 2,6,7,8,9 - Green Street Academy: Weeks 2,5,7,8,9 - National Christian: Weeks 1,2,5,6,8 - Silver Oak: Weeks 3,9,10 - Aberdeen: Week 1 - North Harford: Week 2 - Patterson Mill: Week 2 - Landon: Weeks 4,6,9,10,11 (3 of these are conference games) - Saint James: Week 4 - Fairmont Heights: Weeks 1,8 - Parkdale: Week 1
  2. The SFA-Bishop Sullivan game will be played at UMD. Still no word on where the SFA-IMG game will be played.
  3. Big time win for the Dons. 71 years between titles breaks what (I assume) was the old longest gap between titles. 65 years by McDonogh boys' lax
  4. You sure about that? As of March, Dunbar coaches were saying that game was set in stone.
  5. UPDATE 5/18: Here's a list of dates I'm still missing (doesn't necessarily mean a school is open this week, might just be missing the game from the schedule): - Calvert Hall: Weeks 4,8,10 (Week 4 OR 10 is vs. SFA) - Gilman: Weeks 3,5 - Loyola: Weeks 9,10 - Saint Frances: Weeks 4,10 (Week 4 OR 10 is vs. CHC) - Boys' Latin: Weeks 2,3 - Saint Mary's: Week 2 - Saint Paul's: Weeks 2,3 - Annapolis Area Christian: Week 4 - Friends: Weeks 1,3,4,6,9 (2 of these are vs. OLMC) - Mount Carmel: Weeks 1,4,6,8 (2 of these vs. Friends) - Bishop McNamara: Weeks 1,4 - Fort Hill: Week 6 - Northern Garrett: Week 5 - Douglass (Baltimore City): Week 4 - Benjamin Franklin: Week 1 - Bluford Drew Jemison: Week 1 - FAET: Week 1 - Southwestern: Week 1 - Randallstown: Week 1 - Western Tech: Week 1 - Lansdowne: Week 1 - Sparrows Point: Week 7 - Central Maryland Christian (Home School): Weeks 0,8 - Maryland Christian (Home School): Weeks 7,9 - Francis Scott Key: Week 7 - Thomas Johnson: Week 1 - Hancock: Week 9 - SEED: Weeks 2,4,7,8 - Avalon: Weeks 2,6,7,8,9 - Green Street Academy: Weeks 2,5,7,8,9 - National Christian: Weeks 1,2,5,6,8 - Silver Oak: Weeks 3,9,10 - Aberdeen: Week 1 - Fallston: Weeks 1,2 - North Harford: Week 2 - Patterson Mill: Weeks 1,2 - Rising Sun: Week 2 - Landon: Weeks 2,3,4,6,9,10,11 (3 of these are conference games) - Saint James: Week 4 - Fairmont Heights: Weeks 1,8 - Parkdale: Week 1 - Leonardtown: Week 1
  6. They passed the all time record for girls' lax (107?), which was held by Mount Hebron, a few seasons back. I don't think the longest guys lax streak has reached 100 yet.
  7. With a 12-9 win over NDP, the McDonogh girls clinched their 9th consecutive IAAM A Conference Championship, 8th consecutive undefeated season and 8th consecutive national championship. The win streak now sits at 177. One more year will have them at or near 200. Two more years should break the all-time team sports record of 218 by a girls' basketball team from Louisiana in the 1940s and 50s.
  8. That's what I've been told, it's IMG's B team though. I figured it was more plausible that IMG was covering Dunbar's travel expenses (or a significant portion of them) then a inner-city magnet school with a 34-player roster from Cincy being able to help Mervo out with travel expenses.
  9. UPDATE 5/11: Here's a list of dates I'm still missing (doesn't necessarily mean a school is open this week, might just be missing the game from the schedule): - Calvert Hall: Weeks 4,8,10 (Week 4 OR 10 is vs. SFA) - Gilman: Weeks 3,5 - Loyola: Weeks 9,10 - Saint Frances: Weeks 4,10 (Week 4 OR 10 is vs. CHC) - Boys' Latin: Weeks 2,3 - Saint Mary's: Week 2 - Saint Paul's: Weeks 2,3 - Annapolis Area Christian: Weeks 3,4,5,7,8,10 (4 of these are conference games) - Friends: Weeks 1,3,4,6,7,9,10 (4 of these are conference games) - Mount Carmel: Weeks 1,4,5,6,8,9 (4 of these are conference games) - Bishop McNamara: Weeks 1,4 - Fort Hill: Week 6 - Northern Garrett: Week 5 - Douglass (Baltimore City): Week 4 - Benjamin Franklin: Week 1 - Bluford Drew Jemison: Week 1 - FAET: Week 1 - Southwestern: Week 1 - Randallstown: Week 1 - Western Tech: Week 1 - Lansdowne: Week 1 - Sparrows Point: Week 7 - Central Maryland Christian (Home School): Weeks 0,8 - Maryland Christian (Home School): Weeks 7,9 - Francis Scott Key: Week 7 - Thomas Johnson: Week 1 - Hancock: Week 9 - SEED: Weeks 2,4,7,8 - Avalon: Weeks 2,6,7,8,9 - Green Street Academy: Weeks 2,5,7,8,9 - National Christian: Weeks 1,2,3,5,6,8 - Riverdale Baptist: Weeks 8,11 - Silver Oak: Weeks 3,9,10 - Aberdeen: Week 1 - Fallston: Weeks 1,2 - North Harford: Week 2 - Patterson Mill: Weeks 1,2 - Rising Sun: Week 2 - Landon: Weeks 2,3,4,6,9,10,11 (3 of these are conference games) - Saint James: Week 4 - Fairmont Heights: Weeks 1,8,10 - Surrattsville: Weeks 2,10 - Parkdale: Weeks 1,2,7 - Leonardtown: Week 1
  10. How did Mervo get approved to play a game in Cincinnati? According to their schedule on Digital Sports they're playing at Robert A. Taft HS in Cincy on Saturday, September 30th.

  12. It's crazy with all those great performances at Penn Relays the Sun chose to ignore them all and give athlete of the week to a golfer from BL.

  14. The private schools definitely play a major part in it. The promoters of the leagues themselves have a lot to do with it too. Want to make the fall select team? You have to play on the spring team. It's a shame because it's not healthy, it's not making the kids better, it'll burn the kids out more quickly and it's unnecessary. The stat I saw was 88% of all 250+ NFL draft picks played multiple sports in HS. I'm sure the number would be even higher if you go back to youth leagues. Now you have USA football with full padded development camps in the summer as well. It's possible for an 8th grader to play fall rec league from July-November/December, indoor football from January-March, spring tackle from April-June, USA football camps in July and high school practice in August. That's 16 straight months of contact with no break. You're just asking for something bad to happen at that point.
