Okay. Here's one for you. Runner on first w/no out. Batter hits a routine groundball toward the secondbaseman. Runner and fielder arrive at the ball simultaneously, but the fielder is not aggressive, and while there's no contact and no accusation of interference, she throws late to first. How do you score it? My first inclination is a fielder's choice. Any thoughts?

Would you use the same logic on this situation? Man on third, less than two outs. Ground ball to the left side; infielder checks the runner and throws late to first.

If you don't make a play to get an out on the baserunner the batter is credited with a hit. If you make a play on the baserunner it's a fielders choice whether or not you get the out on the baserunner.

I agree w/ racsan, the 1st one is a hit, the 2nd a FC. The fact that the 3rd baseman "checked" the runner on the 2nd scenario proves the fielder's "choice".

Checking a runner is not a fielder's choice, you have to make a play.

Brianna Jones, IND, had the game winning RBI for TU !!!

    GM.#1 Maryland over JMU 8-0
Kerry Hickey, 1-Hit shutout, along with 2-RBI !!!
Kathy McLaughlin, S-K, went 2-3, with an RBI !!!

    GM.#2 Maryland over JMU 9-8, I think !!!

BTW - Does anyone know why Elaine Nescio, Spalding, hasn't played yet this season for Geo. Washington ???
Update on Elaine Nescio. She had some back problems but is now better and ready to get GW some wins in the circle.

A 2 strike, 2 out, 2 run walkoff single by Erica Makar. Very clutch and exciting.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this probably isn't bad showing for Coppin, correct? I'm sure they have fared worse up there in more recent years.

With you it would be a negative if you left your better half at home. She helps balance things out and make it a positive. Jury is still out on surf!
