No Country For Old Men - Very good! Lot's of unanswered questions though.

The Big Lebowski - I honestly can not understand why this movie is so popular. Average at best, and I didn't find it very funny at all. Guess I'll have to watch it a second time to see if I change my views.

The Doom Generation - Quirky and strange, but I liked it.

Big JB fan here, but I kinda feel the same way. That was one of those movies that slipped thru the cracks for me. After hearing the movie quoted all the time and seeing "The Dude Abides" bumper stickers, I felt like I was one of a few, strange people on Earth who hadn't seen it. So before I missed out on any more pop culture, I bought and watched.

The movie has some funny parts, but maybe my expectations were too high, because I did not immediately join the cult. Like you, I will give it another go.

Recently saw A Dog Year, also with Jeff Bridges. Love JB. Love dogs. Didn't care for the movie...

I saw this one years ago. I remember it being very disturbing.

Watched "The Losers" last night. Started out well, but then quickly took a turn from the implausible to the completely ludicrous. Lost interest by the end. I don't even remember how it ended.

They get the bad guy in the end and the device in a far fetched scene.

You're right, it started out great but went stupid.

UNKNOWN - This was billed similar to TAKEN with the same star but not as good but interesting nevertheless.

    See it on cable.

THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU - Skip this at all cost. It's an insult to one's intelligence and Damon's worse flick.

    Surprised he took the role.

I knew I shouldn't have seen it when I saw the trailer but it was a boring Tuesday night and the pop corn is free
on Tuesdays. At least I came out with something good.

    Dark Water.

    Piss poor suspense thriller.

    Very disapointed.

Good thing I only paid 2.99 for it at a Blockbuster store closing clearance.

Default I just watched The Town on DVD

and The Last Lions, as well as There But For Fortune, a documentary about the legendary folk-singer, phil Oakes, who died tragically by suicide after a life that became unravelled after many years of idealistic songwriting and singing.

The Last Lions is a true story and documentary about a lioness named Ma Di Tau (Mother of Lions) who, after losing her mate to an attack by another lion, is cast out of the pride with her three cubs and forced to flee to another land across a dangerous, crocodile-infested river, herds of dangerous buffalo, and other, more vicious feline cats, including Silver-Eye, a dangerous, cub-killing, half-blind lioness. The trip is rather ardous, and only one of Ma Di Tau's three cubs survives, although no one knows what happens to the surviving cub in the end. Silver-Eye also follows Ma Di Tau to her newfound land, not to make war on her, but to make peace. The two lionesses do make peace and form a female pride in their new land.

At the end of this poignant film, there is a statement saying that, while there were 420, 000 lions in the wild 50 years ago, there are now only 20, 000 lions in the wild today.

The Town, which is based on the wonderful Chuck Hogan novel Prince of Thieves, is about 4 young men who're lifelong buddies and residents of Boston's tough white working-class Charlestown section. They are a talented, disciplined gang of bank and armored car robbers who pride themselves on getting what they want and coming away clean. One day, however, a heist of a Cambridge bank goes wrong, the female bank manager ends up briefly being taken hostage, and things get even more complicated and messier when Doug MacRay, the leader of the gang, trails Claire Keesey, the bank manager to find out what she knows, and becomes attracted to her. Doug and Claire begin a romantic relationship, only to be found out by the FBI, who learned about it through a recorded phone conversation between Doug and Claire.

Since the FBI is determined to bring Doug and his crew down and force them to serve a long-term prison sentence, Doug and Claire's love affair is complicated. Their plans to elope to Florida together go up in smoke. Doug's three buddies are gunned down, due to "Jem" Coughlin's drugged-addled sister and Townie prostitute, Krista having ratted them out to the FBI as to where their latest heist would be, Doug kills his florist crime boss, Fergie and his bodyguard, Rusty, to avenge their threats on Claire and his mother's death by drug addiction.

Since both Doug and Claire have too much heat on them, Doug ends up going to Florida without Claire, living out the rest of his days in a sort of exile and isolation. Before leaving Boston and his old neighborhood, however, Doug hides a big duffel bag full of dirty money for Claire, with a tangerine ( a hint that he's going to Tangerine, FL) and the following letter to her:

    "Claire:

Take this. You could use it better than I can. Not the way I planned it, but for the first time in my life, I'm leaving this city. Maybe if I go, I can stop looking. No matter how much you change, you've still got to pay the price for the things that you've done. I have a long road. But I know I'll see you again, this side or the other."

I also forgot to mention that Doug also visits his father in prison, where he's serving a lifetime sentence for bank robbery and murder, partly to tell his dad that he's making a change in his life, after which his dad says "I'll see you again, this side or the other."

In either case the "I'll see you again this side or the other" means that they'll never will meet again. Doug's father gets killed in prison, and Doug and Claire never will meet again, because they've both got a lot of heat on them; Doug for screwing up his life through his criminal behavior, and Claire for abetting Doug by tipping him off to the FBI's presence in her Charlestown condominium and thereby obstructing justice, instead of letting the FBI nab Doug and force him to serve a prison sentence for his crimes, when they were a hair away from nabbing him.

The book was way better than the film, imho. It took a less sympathetic view of Doug and his crew of thieves, and it developed the characters of Claire, Krista and FBI agt. Frawley much more. The book has a different ending; All four thieves, including Doug, are gunned down by the FBI and the police, and Doug goes to Claire's condo to see her for the very last time before he passes over into the Other World.

Just watched Tron via redbox on blu ray. Great looking movie, wooden acting, convoluted and absurd plot.

I really liked the look they gave olivia wilde. Normally she looks like a skeezy tramp, but she looked hot in this movie. They must have digitally enhanced the sluttiness out of her like they enhanced the old out of horribly over rated jeff bridges.

I went to see Hanna this weekend. Despite the positive buzz surrounding the movie, I though it was horrible. The plot was substandard, acting was poor, a lot of over the top accents, and way too stylized. I was bored to tears.

I saw The Lincoln Lawyer this weekend. If you're a fan of the original Law and Order, it is worth watching. I liked it.

Severence - Not a bad little horror movie. Worth a watch...

"Stone" and ".45" - Being a huge Milla Jovovich fan I liked them both. Average at best though...

I watched The American last night. It was good, althogh a bit slow. Also from the beginning of the movie I felt like I knew how it HAD to end. I was right. I really liked it though.

I am watching The Expendables right now - lost interest about an hour ago (i.e. five minutes into the movie).

I saw 'Dinner for Schmucks' last night. It was ok. Not nearly as good as 'Super 8", which I saw 2 weeks ago.
