However the sentiments about Elat is true for me because I experienced it in 1978. Exactly the same way. At that time, the UN had troops on the Lebanon border of Israel.
I have pictures of the border. I remember sitting in the restaurant in the border and watching the military transports coming in. In Elat, which I got to by way of a bus traveling down the Sinai, I experienced this very same comment. It will always be with me.
