    Clue #3- Our man won his medals for leading an attack on a German machine gun nest, taking 32 machine guns, killing 28 German soldiers and capturing 132 others. He was an excellent marksman.

    I didn't realize he had bad eyes. He somehow managed to shoot enough animals.

    There were sure a lot of ambulances in WWI. Lots of people later to become famous drove them.

    It might have helped that they were beating the bush driving the animals toward him.
    Maybe they were afraid he wouldn't be able to tell one side from the other in WWI?

    Clue #3- In 1775, our man led a failed attempt in Canada that resulted in his capture by British authorities. First imprisoned aboard Royal Navy ships, he was paroled in New York City, and in 1778, released in a prisoner exchange.
