In addition to full employment (hours) secure also means the wages associated with the work won't drop and THAT requires two things:
    1) An in-elastic need for the good or service.
    2) A barrier to entry (license, education, etc).

I think it is a mistake to make one's primary concern in a search be "job security".

People should stick with what they are good at. Most jobs worth having also have some level of insecurity. That's ok.

A township in New Jersey shut their police department down and Columbus Ohio layed off a police academy class. County police in Delaware were threatened with layoffs, instead they will get no raises for the next 3 years. Paramedics in training in Delaware did get layed off.

Work for Leviathan... better known as the US Central Government. The domestic Gestapo, Grunstaffel, Basij (aka Obama Youth) and other assorted repression/tattle tale and nanny state bandgroupings are looking for you.

And when the contract they are working on is over, they get layed off.

hence the reason I got away from Aerospace work after 20 plus years, feast or famine. Loved the work but with congress deciding if you had work next week or next year was nuts.

I worked about 10 years at Westinghouse before I was layed off. I stay away from defense contractors now.

MR. RECTOR: Well, I would say the motivation is clear. I mean, it couldn’t help but be clear. This is such an unprecedented step within the U.S. welfare system, to basically say, oh, you are not eligible but we will not check, wink, wink, nod, nod. We’ve never done that, okay. And, gee, I wonder why that provision is in there, especially since, on two occasions, they deliberately voted down amendments that said, well, why didn’t you apply the traditional checks that are on – by the way, these are on over 71 different federal welfare programs, okay – you use this type of check to determine whether the person is eligible?
