Mostly I'd like to be able to use my titles, mounts, and pets across multiple characters.
But "What a long strange trip." awards a 310 speed mount. If you do it on one then you'd get the faster mount for all your toons that didn't spend a year getting it. People would QQ hard about that one.

I thought that 4.0.3 is the pre-patch and that it will change the quests. That explains why it is 4 gigs.

Edit: nevermind. I see the difference now. You're right. 4.0.1 is just class changes. 4.0.3 will change the world.

    People QQ hard about everything.

So doing that meta across 4 different toons is less work than doing it across 1? You're still doing the same amount of in-game work to get it.

Doing that meta across 4 different toons is A LOT more work than doing it across 1. That is the point. If you do it on one and then share it with all the others then the ones that shared it are getting it for free. Outside of raiding, what a long strange trip, is probably one of the most time consuming to get. Or the 'Salty' fishing one. I think I have 4 toons with fishing 450 and none of them have the 'Salty' title.

What I meant was, if I get Brewmaster and Elder on one char, Midsummer and Merrymaker on another, Noblegarden and Hallows end on another, etc. I've still done all X number of achievements to obtain the meta, just spread across a few characters. It disincentivizes people from either 1) switching mains, or 2) completing achievements if you change mains.

A year ago I thought I wanted to play my warrior permanently. This past spring I lost interest in him (burned out from tanking) and fell in love with my rogue, which I plan on playing through Cataclysm.

Since I started playing 6 years ago, I've had 6 different "mains" depending on what guild I was in, which server I was on, which expansion we were in, etc. If I earned a drake on my warrior, but then changed to my rogue for Cataclysm, why should I no longer be able to use what I've already earned elsewhere? Or, in my case, where I've completed a few of the holiday events on an old character, I need to go through another full year of doing holidays on a new character to get the drake on that one. What if you've just got Brewmaster left to do on your character, and then your guild asks you to change to a different class?

I understand the reasons against it, that you should be invested in your character, and so on. But at the same time, I'd like to have the option to play any of my characters at any time and utilize what I've earned. I'm talking mostly about titles/mounts/pets related achievements.

They've given us access to heirlooms, account bound cold weather flying, and account bound enchants to make life on your alts easier. Why not account bound achievement rewards?

The problem with BoA achievements would be that you could pass them around to all your alts. My priest, mage, and lock all used the same set of BoA gear. I don't think achievements were meant to work that way.

Between my mage doing world events and my druid doing raids, I'd have just about everything. Should my mage get the kingslayer achievement my druid got despite rarely stepping foot inside ICC?

    No patch today btw.

I guess what you're saying makes sense. Kingslayer without ever touching ICC would be a problem, but I feel that some sort of system could be set up to let you use some titles, mounts, or achievements across several characters. Perhaps non-raid titles, such as reputation based titles, pets, mounts, etc. Perhaps a one time in-game fee, or even an out of game fee. I feel confident that if it was something Blizzard pursued, they could definitely make a system that would make most people happy. The BoA system in Wrath has been extremely successful. To use your own argument...gear was never supposed to work that way either (hence, BoP and BoE since Day 1).

I think BoA came about as a way to shorten the leveling curve. Most of the effort Blizz puts into the game is in endgame content. You still have to level each toon.
OTOH, recruit a friend lets you pretty much buy levels.

Some people QQ about BoA's. Personally, I love them. It's a long hike to 80, soon to be 85.

I just don't see them doing it with achievements.

Look at it this way. My mage alt has done 'What a long strange trip' so should I be able to buy that for my main who only has done about half of it?

Absolutely. Can you give me a compelling reason why not?

Because it takes almost a year to do it.

OTOH, they're selling just about everything else.

Yes, it takes a year no matter what, whether you do it all on one character, or do each holiday on a different character. You're still doing 100% of the work. So should you have to do the holiday events in entirely every year if you play a different character each year? Seems silly and counterproductive to me.

And maybe by the weekend I'll have all my specs straightened out. Provided I don't sleep, eat, shower, or go to work.

Did you buy that kayak yet?

Please be advised that in general, this isn't an indoors activity.

Nope. But I'm thinking about building another chopper in the game.

Wow, the old tree looked so much better.

I've made about 5k gold since last night on inscription, and another 500 on JC. Unfortunately, transmutes are bugged so I can't unleash a wave of gems on the AH (should have planned ahead better), but I'm doing pretty well with the glyphs. With the changes to AH addons, once I empty this glyph batch I'll be done with the glyph market I think. I'll head into Cataclysm with about 140k gold, and that's after recently purchasing the grand traveler's mammoth (16k) and a Mechano-hog (15k).

    I hate you.

I think between my eight 80s I have about 10k gold. I should have got my scribe in on the action but I forgot to. Glyphs are averaging around 40g a pop on my server.
