    Default Conan coming to TBS

    You guys see this news?

Conan O'Brien is returning to the late-night game with a new show on TBS

Personally, as a big Coco fan, I'm pretty excited. I've definitely missed him the past several months.

What do you guys think? Is this the right move for him? Are you stoked to see Big Red back?

I like Conan a lot, but I don't stay up late enough to watch his show during the week. Good for him though.

TBS? I would love to see him on a network like Spike, the Comedy Channel or something because then he could get really wild without the restraints on his content like he had to deal with on the major network. Conan has the potential to be off the wall and be wild and crazy. If TBS allowed him to do almost whatever he wants, then I can see his show getting great ratings and plenty of attention.
I like Conan, I hope he does well.

The negotiations moved rapidly because, Mr. Polone said, TBS agreed quickly to almost every request. “We’d come back with complex details and they’d apologize and say they might not be able to get back to us for two hours.”

TBS also promised “the biggest promotional campaign in television history” for Mr. O’Brien, using some of TBS’s most popular properties like the NBA playoffs this spring and the Major League Baseball playoffs next fall.

    A bit of a surprise.
I expected him to do better.

I know he is very popular but I never really warmed up to him. Thought he was just ok and felt from day one that NBC made a mistake in replacing Leno on The Tonight Show with O'Brien.

    I was surprised, as well.
Going from NBC to TBS is kind of like a baseball player being sent back to the minors.
I doubt he'll be much competition for Leno or Letterman on that channel, but maybe it will work. Stranger things have happened.

Think Howard Stern and Sirius. He helped make them more well known. Maybe TBS can enter the big leagues by using Conan and surprise everyone. However, it is a huge gamble.

I'm glad he's back, but let's face it, none of the late night shows have as much of a following with 1,500 channels of junk, Internet, and an audience that has an attention span of 12 seconds. The market is much more fragmented compared to when Johnny was doing the show.

True, but to add a new spin to the game Conan's show may be highly rated overall because of internet viewings on sights like Hulu. TBS may be anticipating this as a windfall. It is not just Nielsen ratings anymore.

Conan is overrated. His antics he used were not in sync with the Tonight Show format. It was OK when he was on at 12:30.
