    Default Country Fried Steak

Best I ever had was at a hotel next to the Stockyard's in Ft Worth.

'round here I take a ride to the nearest Cracker Barrell.
    Love their sawmill gravy.
Love a good sausage gravy too.

Any local area restaurants or greasy spoon diners have a good one?

Many years ago, I spent several months in Houston on my job. Best country fried steak I ever had was in a place called the Roundup. It was across the street from the old Houston Astro Dome. Does anyone know if the place is still there?

Now, I like my CFS breakfast style with eggs, sausage and such...do they serve breakfast there?

No they don't, and I like it also for breakfast western style with hash browns of course.

Chillis is huge and thick and a good quality for steak, not the trhin round most uses.

With awesome gravy, garlic mashed pottatos, have a ear of corn and texas toast.

You will walk floating and if you like good CFC you will have it again when you lose a few more pounds, lol.

I will now show my Arkansas upbringing...

First of all, anybody that calls it "country" fried steak doesn't know what they are doing. It is chicken fried steak.
Secondly, like bbq, if you want a good one, go south young man/woman.

Different area's call it different things. Some areas it's soda, in others it's pop.
'Round here it's Country Fried Steak and I know a good one when I eat one.

    Dear Sgt Hulka

If it was 'round here and country fried steak, it wasn't a good one.

Also, there is no such thing as soda or pop. They are all coke. You just let us know what kind of coke you want.

Actually there are slight differences between how it is prepared and the type of gravy served. So one could be talking about Country Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Steak. So the person that calls it Country fried steak might know what they are doing. You just might not know what you should be eating.

I can't recall where I've had the best one, but I can definitely tell you the worst Country Fried Chicken Steak I've had was at Cookie's Kitchen in Pasadena. Just disgusting!
