Lone Star State of Mind, 2002. Starring Joshua Jackson and Jamie King.

Crazy with loony toon characters and funny as hell.

    Thick As Thieves.

Two master thieves go at odds with one another as one sets the other up for a crime. The first, a suave pro who does his job and then hides in his own privacy, listening to old jazz records and caring for his ailing dog, Wally. The other is a local gangster with a taste for the finer life, who decides to eliminate the competition. This ignites a war between the two men and their aides. An angry mob boss and a female police officer try to sort the mess before things get too out of hand.

I really enjoyed this. Saw it On Demand free movies under Movieplex.

Better than I thought it would be. !!!

I want to nominate for the Obscure Movie of the Month...No Such Thing.

A delightful and imaginative monster movie that sent me immediately to IMDB to give it my 10 points where I was glad but not surprised to see that I was not in the minority

Where do I start to explain a horror movie that has no comparison except maybe Beauty and the Beast.

In a America where terrorist regularly load dynamite on to the Manhattan bridge and subways are routinely evacuated because of nerve gas releases, a young unappreciated journalist is allowed by her chain smoking, sensation seeking news editor, played with aplomb by Helen Mirren, to go to Iceland in search of her missing fiance, a camera crew member, only to wind up the lone survivor of a trans Atlantic airplane crash and pieced back together by doctors. Once healed some six months later she resumes her journey and the search for her fiance. Arriving in an obscure region of Iceland she is told by the villagers that her boy friend was killed by 'the Monster' a potty mouthed, hard drinking, remorseless creature who cannot die.

Together they come to America. You ain't seen nothing quite like this.

Whoever thought of this story (writer/director Hal Hartley) has some imagination and I will be looking for more of his work.

    Bravissimo !!!

This is on On Demand under Premium Channels 'Encore Channel'. I did not see it on Netflix. Shame

Now I have. Some suspense, some low comedy about misogyny until the end. BTW, ffolkes's account of his childhood sounds like Nietzsche's.

Snatch- one of the best 'caper' movies I've ever seen. Hysterical from start to finish. London Gangsters vs underground boxing promoters vs Gypsies vs a sneaky f***ing Russian vs Numbskulls vs a Rottweiler vs the Italian Mafia = all over a Diamond the size of your fist! My personal favorite comedy flick.
I fell asleep with HBO on and woke up to Snatch - the movie. Half asleep I thought it was Brad Pitt but I couldn't understand a word he was saying. Thought to myself it had to be because I was half asleep. Finally fully awake I stayed up and watched the movie. Hilarious. I actually woke my wife up laughing so hard. LS&TSB was equally hilarious.

How do you tell if a movie is good ?

Me? If it chokes me up it was a good movie and that can happen with any genre, Horror, Comedy, Action etc. If it puts a lump in my throat 6 out of 10 times it goes onto my good list. NOT to say that all movies I rate as good, very good or great have to or have choked me up. But if they do it's usually a good movie.

I watch many many movies and I do not choke up at them. I am not a cry baby. No really.

The real purpose of this post was to break the Ipad/Ipod notification showing on the forum topics.

The Raid: Redemption (if you know how to download subtitles and how to add them...if you don't I can give you full instructions)

Vengeance (2009) Not a bad little movie again a modern Asian film that will need subs.

Saved (2004) A comedy not bad.

The Virgin Suicides (1999) I'm going through a Kirsten Dunst thing

Headhunters (2011) An accomplished headhunter risks everything to obtain a valuable painting owned by a former mercenary.

Sleepless Night (2011) A cop with a connection to the criminal underworld finds his secret life exposed when he and his partner are caught stealing cocaine from a powerful drug dealer, a move that puts his son's life in jeopardy.

Point Blank (2010) Samuel Pierret (Gilles Lellouche) is a nurse who saves the wrong guy -- a thief (Roschdy Zem) whose henchmen take Samuel's pregnant wife (Elena Anaya) hostage to force him to spring their boss from the hospital. A race through the subways and streets of Paris ensues, and the body count rises. Can Samuel evade the cops and the criminal underground and deliver his beloved to safety?

Special Forces (2011) I really enjoyed this one !!!! A French journalist in Afghanistan is kidnapped by the Taliban

    Safety Not Guaranteed

Darius is a young intern at a Seattle-based magazine and jumps at the chance to investigate the author of a classified ad seeking someone to travel back in time with. Along with Jeff, the staff writer, and Arnau, a fellow intern, the three go on a road trip to a coastal town. While Jeff just wants to chase after his high school crush and Arnau wants some kind of life experience, Darius spends her time with Kenneth, a man who believes that he has built a time machine. The closer they become and the more they understand about each other, the less clear it becomes if Kenneth is just crazy or if he actually is going to successfully travel back in time

Wonderful, Quirky movie. If big name stars were in this it would get nominated for an Oscar. I highly recommend it !!!
