Harford Tech / Rising Sun
Tiebreaker should be head-to-head: which is even
Ends up going down to overall record: Harford Tech has played N. Harford, which will end up costing them the title
NH 3
PMill 1
North Harford claims the Chesapeake Division title.
Who is going to drop down next year. Elkton has 3 conference wins and split with
fallston. North East has 3 conference wins and split with Elkton. Fallston has 2 conference wins but still has to play North East on monday. If Fallston wins, it will give them 3 conference wins and they will have 2 wins against North East and 1 win against Elkton. Does anybody know how that will be decided?
NH loses tough one to Curley 5-4.
In top 6, Curley had loaded the bases, but NH battled to keep the dmage to the tie run at 2-2. Curley hitter then hit a looping line drive to CF, which the NH CF lost in the late afternoon sun (very tough sun that time fo day from CF). 3 runs scored.
NH battled back in the bottom of the 6th to make it 5-4 but couldn't get that last hit.
I was looking at stats on maxpreps. Harford tech has had a pretty good year. But there is no way that they have 11 players in the top 20 in batting average. 11 players hitting higher than .391. Thoughts?
I am a former Harco High School baseball player now playing club baseball at the University of Maryland. We won the district tournament this past weekend and clinched a spot in the NCBA World Series in Columbus, Georgia for the first time in school history. Unfortunately, the University has a budget deficit and is unable to fund our trip. Now, during finals week, we are scrambling enough money to pay for the bus and hotel, which together totals about $10,000. If you are interested or willing to support me and my teammates of the DII Club Baseball Team on our trip to Columbus, GA for the World Series, here's how you can:
To donate, you can go to www.paypal.com and click send money. When it asks whom they are sending it to they have to use the email MD.Club.Baseball@gmail.com and then use their own PayPal email when filling out whom it’s from. This is our first ever World Series experience, and every dollar counts! Thank you!
CMW over Aberdeen 12-1.
they somehow magically haven't had a single reach on error or fielder's choice the entire season. if you go back through their individual game stats, you'll see the other team with plenty of errors but their kids getting "hits" for them. it's not very fair for the kids underneath them who's teams actually know how to score a game.
yep...Chesapeake in AA County does the same thing. They dominate the top 20 for batting average, but if you dig deeper they only had 5 ROE this year and their leadoff guy who is supposedly batting .448 hasn't had an ROE in 2 years on varsity. Sucks for the rest of the folks who keep a legitimate book!
Couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, from what I have seen their coach seems more fair than most with the scoring. Just because the stats only show 5 ROE doesn't mean all those errors were counted as hits. And having 4 regulars with a BA between .395 and .448 hardly qualifies as dominant, and further, is simply not comparable to 11 players batting .391 or better. By the way that leadoff hitter has one of the sweetest right-handed swings you will see and was a member of the Futures Team. Not all teams report their stats on Max Preps. The Capital-Gazette is a more comprehensive guide of the leaders in the county. Next time try to know the facts and the people involved a little better before throwing around your snide little comments.
Sweet swing or not, here is the statistical comparison to your comparable teams:
Old Mill has 27 ROE and a team BA of .304
South River has 34 ROE and a team BA of .320
Meade has 21 ROE and a team BA of .302
North Cty has 19 ROE and a team BA of .242
Broadneck has 41 ROE and a team BA of .236
Chesapeake has 5 ROE and a team BA of .338
...and in this case if it was not a "reached on error" then it pretty much has to be scored as a base hit (while errors can occur on other plays, the ROE stat is specific to batting and how a player achieved first base). Lastly, the Capital uses the stats that you report to them on a weekly basis, so if you say a player is hitting .460, that's what they compile. They don't audit. Enough said, it's inconsequential.....
It still does not mean that all ROE are reported, and that all those not reported are counted as hits. I know this for a fact. If hand entered from scorebook, most people will simply report 1-3, 2B, BB, 1 RBI, etc. Understand? You stated yourself in a post last year that you should know the facts before making accusations. So believe what you like if it makes you feel better, I'm not going to continue with this petty message board arguement. Been involved in this game at a lot of levels for too long. BTW-Durocher has had arm trouble for the better part of the last year and is just now pitching on a limited basis, Mitchell is just not the same pitcher (although the medical issues may also be a contributor), and yes, playing SP is often like fighting 2 opponents.
althought its been a quiet site, Its still a harford county/ucbac site . . . . Harco has two teams going back to the region finals. . .3a North Harford versus Towson, 2a Patterson Mill versus North Caroline. They finished 1 and 2 in the Chesapeake division this year. Best of luck to both programs
Sounds like the Hawks won. Did I hear correctly? Mooney pitched a perfect game?
That is correct.
It was an amazing peformance.
13 Ks. Absolutely dominating. The North Hagerstown hitters kept looking back to the dugout as if they were trying to figure out what to do and the answers never came.
Almost as amazing was how the Hawks scored their first runs. They were hitting the Hagerstown pitcher, but couldn't come up with the clutch hit. Then they got the bases loaded with 1 out and tried a squeeze. That ball went foul and everybody figured that chance was over. Itwas only over for one pitch as Alec Mouring took a high fastbvall for a ball and the next pitch laid down a PEFECT bunt that North Hagerstown couldn't field. Then the next hitter, Brian Shaffer came up and did the exact same thing.
Amazing.........
Congrats to JM Bennett on their 4-2 win v. North Harford last Saturday night.
The kid they had on the hill was VERY impressive, finding a hole in the NH strikezone and working with the plate ump to stay on that outside corner. NH didn't make the adjustment until some sloppy play in the field had put it out of reach.
That being said.......thanks to all the NH kids for a very enjoyable ride. I'm sorry it's over.........
