    Default Mcdonogh future looks bright

    Mcd girls team did well at Bishop Walsh despite missing six players including 3 starters. They lost in opening game by 5 points to Holy Cross which put them in losers bracket, however they bounced back with a 40 pt win over goretti and then beat Spalding for 4th time this year 54-49. Mcd played with 7 girls for the tournament 6 varsity players and 1 call up from JV. Freshman Danielle Edwards made all tourney team and won Most outstanding player. Soph Brianna Jacobs also made all tournament team and won award for most rebounds with 32 for the tournament. Soph Maya Wynn also won award for Most 3 pointers with 8 for the tournament.

    In my opinion, Aberdeen is the best team in the area. I'd have them beating McDonogh by at least 10.
    Mcd vs Abeerdeen would be a good game that could go either way. Abeerdeen would have the advantage inside with Big Bri, but can the deens guards handle Mcds full court pressure that has caused a lot of teams problems this year. But I guess we will have to wait till next year I hear there coaches are trying to get that game scheduled.

    Congratulations to the Eagles of Aberdeen. These young ladies are truly deserving of a state championship. I know each of those young ladies personally and I can truly attest to their unsettling of what happen last year against Frederick. They had their moments but they truly showed what happens when individuals surrender their will for the greater good. Proud of you girls! I believe they can make it next year as well. This is probably the best girls basketball period in Harford County. Fallston , Joppatown and Aberdeen have made girls basketball pleasurable in this county.

    This was the year to play this game. Would of been a great game no matter who won. Next year not so sure.. Aberdeen will be better with Bri's little sister and I dont think McD will be nearly as good. Losing Cummings is huge for them as well as Winder... Spalding- Aberdeen should be the better game next year..

    What great Freshman? You under value what Cummings did this season she was MVP in the league and carried the young kids. Leadership is very important. I will stick with Spalding as teh best next year.

    After that statement I have lost all respect for your opinion. Ask any coach in the league and I bet you get Cummings as the MVP. I also find it hard to believe about the Freshman. You cant make a statement like that and then say it is a secret. Lay it out there who is she and let others judge if she is great...

    Taylor Cummings scored 15 points in the championship game vs Spalding at UMBC. Granted she is not the most skilled basketball player, but no one plays, all sports, at a more competitive level than Taylor.

    Where is Tucker on the All Baltimore County team? I looked at it online and don't see her, but see her teammate is on the list. Shout out to Diona White, Super Freshman on making the team. I think she's earned all Metro!

    Will Baltimore City coaches get it together this year and vote on an All -City team? They are supposedly "compiling that information."

    Who are the best two players in the city at each position?

    I agree Spalding will have a senior laden team next year and will be very good, but with what Mcd has coming back they will be right there in the mix. Freshman Edwards. Sophs Jacobs and Wynn and Junior Rees all played alot of minutes this year and with Freshman Logan and Johnson in the mix they will be very tough to be beat. Also agree Cummings is a great player that brought alot to the team and she will be missed as well as Winder.

    She spent a lot of time out with an ankle injury this season. Wonder if coaches took that into consideration in the voting. She's a tremendous talent to be excluded even if she only played a handfull or two of games.

    This is what I saw from hoopgurlz blog:

    Top point guards in the DMV (In alphabetical order):

    Lindsay Allen, 5-8, St. John's College, Washington, DC;
    Caroline Coyer, 5-8, Oakton, Vienna,VA (Villanova commit);
    Galaisha Goodhope, 5-6, Princess Anne, Virginia Beach, VA (Old Dominion commit);
    Chanel Green, 5-7, H.D. Woodson, Washington, DC (Providence commit);
    Te'shia Heslip, 5-3, Potomac, Woodbridge, VA (Howard commit)
    Breonn Hughey, 5-4, H.D. Woodson, Washington, DC;
    Rachel Loube, 5-5, Calvert, Huntingtown, MD;
    Briana Mason, 5-9, Forest Park, Woodbridge, VA (Virginia commit);
    Angela Mickens, 5-7, R.E. Lee, Staunton, VA (James Madison commit);
    Taylor Murray, 5-6, Annapolis Area Christian, Severn, MD;
    Lindsay Spann, 5-6, Good Counsel, Olney, MD.

    Why do we limit the DMV to a small number of kids. There are a lot of girls that fall under the "top guards in the DMV" much more than just 11 girls. There are a couple of 2015s that should be on this list.
