Default Do you think Flacco was that good last year, will he be better this year???

Look I'm all for the Ravens winning but Joe missed 4 or 5 wide open receivers today. Smith should have had 5 TD's himself and Joe was barely over 50% at one point today. If you really think the problems of Joe are done, so be it,but I just hope he gets better in his completions as the year goes on.

So the man had almost 400 yards, 3 touchdowns (almost 4 if Boldin doesnt drop the one), and zero picks, and that's not good enough?

Are you really a sucker in real life? The Rams SUCK. To make things worse, the had a CB off the bench starting.
Joe had a great game. He deserves credit - but we want to see him perform when the level of competition is tough.

We have cornerbacks off the bench starting as well. Don't tell me other cornerbacks would have covered Smith especially with that closing speed. It is an NFL team. I agree it was an easier game but Flacco was good, do not keep looking to put him down. Look at Matty Ice. I haven't heard a word about him on this board because he has been exposed and the "why isn't Flacco more like Matt Ryan" argument from last year has no bearing. I have heard some mutter about Cam Newton. The grass is always greener but Flacco is good and do not tell me the Steelers D was not tough. He handled them OK.

...and the Ravens had to start a rookie in place of Evans (a rookie, by the way, that many were already labelling "a bust").

...and the Ravens had their own injury issues to their DBs

...and the Ravens had their third LG starting

...and the Ravens were on the road

The Ravens don't get to pick their opponents, but when a weak one shows up on the schedule, the Ravens did what they are supposed to do - apply a serious beating and get out of there healthy.

BTW, what were you saying about his performance after week 1 (and about tough competition that is)?

Joe played well against Pittsburgh in week 1 too. I believe I acknowledged him on this board for that, as I make a point of doing when he performs well. I think I am objective - I try to be. I just want some more consistency and to get the wins when our backs are against the wall. We'll be fine from the looks of things so far. We've played 2 tough opponents so far and we're 1-1 in those games. Let's get Rex this week and take it from there.

When his back is against the wall he's not going to look like he did in weeks 1 and 2. No QB does.

As Joe ably demonstrated on his nine rushes of the day, he ain't Vick, Young, Elway, Cunningham, or even Troy Smith. He's not going to win games with his legs very often.

He'll never be good enough for people who think they know something about playing QB in the NFL. Even though they probably have never pkayed a down of football in their life. lol!

I want him to be better. Do you think he can't be better. The question is Do you think Joe played his best. If you truly think, being the football man you are, that Joe is doing great. Well you need to get out of LaLa land to. The Defense and Rice will not always be there and until Cam gets Canned,Joe needs to take over the team and call audibles. A slant to the hot side a screen or even a bubble screen but Cam is the worse thing for Joe and hopefully the kicker billy C will continue to be great.

Yes I'm very entertained and wish many more threads were like this instead of all the name calling.

Okay the game is on Turkey Day so please someone hide the Turkey from Joe before the game. If he eats any of it we may never wake him up. As it is he falls to sleep at least for a quarter or two in every game. Can you imagine what eating turkey would do?

Yeah he has slept his way to the #1 record in the AFC and a season sweep of Pittsburgh.

They were throwing deep a lot. Deep passes are low percentage plays, but I think he hit about 50% of them. That's rather good.

It was possible because the O-line gave him the time, but he also moved well in the pocket and bought time.

    THANK YOU!!!! Great post.

I've seen Peyton Manning and Tom Brady overthrow a LOT of passes. On deep balls, an underthrow puts the defender in good position to intercept. It's better to err to the deep side. And the THREE TDs Joe threw were just about perfect. Very few QBs could do better.

And Joe will probably continue to get better. He has NEVER thrown the deep ball as well as he has this year, and for the first time he has receivers that can get open deep.

Hell last night Curtis Painter was skipping passes on the field like rocks skipping across the water.

Some people just have to complain or else they aren't happy.

I believe Joe was sick last week .Sunday he stepped up in the pocket, ran for yards when all were covered and threw the long ball 10 times. If Joe is this good when you think he was bad, I can't wait to see him really bad.

Here we go. No QB has perfect games. Flacco took a lot of low-percentage shots downfield and hit on a pretty darn good number of them. Yeah there might have been a few times he could have gone underneath and picked up a first down. Instead he took his shots and hit some big winners.

Honestly some guys could wake up next to Giselle and complain about her hair getting on their side of the bed. FFS.
