Some people just seem to have a personal axe to grind.

I am not too concerned about the defense...neither D is what it once was...it's going to come down to which team makes the fewest mistakes...if the game is decided by more than 4 points either way, I'd be surprised....

two weeks ago some people were convinced this team wouldn't win a game the rest of the year...as was pointed out during yesterday's telecast..good teams have bad games....this league is week to week....just ask the 49'ers, Giants and Falcons....

That's why the term "on any given Sunday" (that was before Thursday night football, and Monday night football, and sometimes Saturday night football)...

The Ravens and Steelers games are rarely blowouts. The one that stands out is the one in which Hot Sauce leveled Ben, and The Chin still kept him in the game. The Ravens swept the Steelers that year. I think this year the games will be close. To me, it will come down to the coaches first, then the players executing. Close games usually come down to either a few plays or calls. Either way, a lot will be determined over the next 3 weeks. And the least of the problems is Joe Flacco, IMO.

Well he was certainly good this past week no doubt about it. But I wouldn't get too carried away as it came against what is essentially a Triple A football team (not that there's such a thing but still) and it came at home where he seems to be a different player. I also wonder only half jokingly if Caldwell had a hand in coordinating last week's game plan.

Speaking of Triple A football teams...

how'd those Falcons do against their division rival Saints? Yeah...that's what I thought...Matty melted down yet again when he had to play a quality team. Why is that, I wonder.

How posts words are needed to answer the question? It seems like someone likes bumping here.

A simple anser to the question would be Are you kidding me?

I think we are just mad that Atlanta had the chance to take Ryan before us, This being said, I think they are both very very good and for years to come will be the class of the league.

Well a win is a win but that 3rd and 2 call at the 2 minute mark was awful. By the way Joe should have it in his contract that he can only start in home games.lol

now that is funny. Seriously I have posted on another thread how Cam has got to go. I think Joe would improve by leaps and bounds when Cam is fired.

Wrong! As I typed before, I suspect (with only my gut feeling) that Flacco calculated that the worst that could happen (turn the ball over on a short field via INT or fumble) was not worth taking the risk....

If you watch the replay on NFL Game Rewind (as I did), I got the impression that Flacco was trying to extend the play from the pocket. He seemed to have both hands on the ball (and tightly), he moved around in the pocket and wasted four seconds off the clock. Then the Ravens let the entire 40 second play clock until taking their second time out to avoid the penalty. At that time only 1:12 were left on the clock.

After the punt, there 7 fewer seconds left --- and it was up to the defense to hold the Squealers from the 15 yard line.

    I'd say Flacco was brilliant!

Preston graded Flacco as a C- and I cannot disagree...

However, a win is a win!

Also, please watch a replay of the game and focus on all the out routes! Notice how the Steelers sent a player (FS or LB) to undercut EVERY out pattern...I was initially upset at the high throws too, but then, after it was pointed out about the under cuts, I started to see that Flacco was forced to throw high.

He never seemed to me to have a 1000 yard stare, but concentrated on not giving the Squealers any short fields.

Certainly it was a better performance that Matt Ryan's 5 INTs!!!

The only positive about this game on offense was the Ravens had zero turnovers. Rice ran scared as he had holes on the outside but ducked inside. Flacco was mediocre at best but the line to me played well. We had 3 drops by the wr as well but Cam called this game in a defensive manner. Joe just needs to block out the crowd and not be afraid of audibles .

I thought we were going to be a wide open offense this year. I guess 2000 is back.

I love this thread. It is like my lucky piece. I think since I have written on it the Ravens are 20 and 4. So here goes another.

Joe Flacco will show everyone today why he is so very good. He will get revenge for the egg the Ravens laid last year in SD.

I'm still waiting for some "expert" to explain the term elite...

    Wins close games?
    Wins games on the road?
Leads the offense with come-from-behind wins?
Makes tight throws in clutch time?
Changes plays based on the defense he sees?
    Minimizes turnovers?

Geez, all of those questions can include Joe Flacco in the answer.

I don't care what anyone says negativly about Joe. In the 5 years he has been the Ravens QB all he has done is win. What do some of you want. Do they want to go back to the 3 and 13 years get the first or top draft choices etc or just go to the playoffs and have a chance at the SB. I have had it with the losers on this board who just gripe about everything. The O's have been bad for 14 years or more and have finally won. Now if these naysayers want that kind of agony for 14 years go to a city like Miami or Tenn or whatever team constantly has the top pick in the draft. I think they would all love to trade places and for sure love a winner like Joe Flacco to QB their team. What is his record by the way? Something like 50 and 16 in his 5 years and counting.
