Don't be sorry for me. If Flacco is a bust the Ravens will be hurting for years to come. A good QB can only be found if you pick 1 or 2. The Colts got luck and only had to suffer 1 year but they also had a pretty good defense, the Ravens are old on Defense and without a QB they will be hard pressed to be a 500 team for years. Rebuild the defense first but if a good QB is available in Free Agency grab him.

Sorry to say but I think you are in a tough situation. Your guy basically has the franchise by the balls. He surely doesn't merit a top 5 QB contract as he predicted before the season but if you somehow cut him loose some QB-desperate team WILL give him what he wants. And then who do you turn to? There's no real help in the upcoming draft/FA. Even franchising him would probably be disastrous as it would eat up a good chunk of the cap (unless you release a bunch of highly paid vets).

I'm just glad it's not my problem. Your FO will definitely have its work cut out for it come season's end.

I get the fact Flacco is probably not worth a top 5 pay checkj. This being said how is it the Redskins and other teams can go out and spend freely on FA but they always have room under the cap. No matter what they spend they always have more to spend every year.

I say now is the time to rest Flacco and get his arm in shape. A rest will do the team good.

Beat Eli and the Giants first, win the division and then they can rest next week. Don't you want them to win the division which would guarantee them at least one home playoff game? Any true Ravens fan would be happy with that.

I want to look at the long picture. No matter what we are in the playoffs. These guys need a rest and if it means they may get to be 90% instead of 70% back, I want that. Yes a home game is nice but any true Raven fan wants a SB victory. If this means go the way of 2000 than so be it but I would rather see the team in the SB sound than play at home with injured players who are 70%. Not only this but we may be seeing these players hurt themselves more. We need to get healthy to compete no matter where we play our games

Please remind me - how long has it been since the Redskins have been in the playoffs?

That was not my question. They have for years went after top FA's who have been dud's when the were Redskins. I want to know how they can do this every year.

By the way, Joe played great today.

agreed but the game in Cincy should be treated as an off week or the 1st pre season game as it has no bearing on the slots. We are number 4 no matter what.

What you say is plausible...however, come back when your franchise QB has won a playoff game!

Actually we can get the no. 3 if New England loses. Resting our players would be a no brainer if we didn't have that 3 game losing streak and we didn't have a new offensive coordinator. This team needs a little winning streak and they need to build on what they did Sunday before they face the possibility of playing in Houston or Denver. Flacco and the offense need to continue to click with Caldwell which means they need the reps.

It would be nice to get to the second round healthy and flying on all cylinders. It's a gamble but I think it's one we have to take.

I'm just sayin' that if it doesn't translate into on field success, who cares how the midget manages the cap? I agree it is fascinating, but I'd rather do it the Ravens way.

Unless the Ravens plan on spending a few seasons to rebuild they are going to have to take a different approach to free agency this next offseason. They have gotten by in the past because their drafts have produced quality replacements for the veterans who have left via free agency or those who have been cut.Age and a few poor drafts have finally caught up to them and they are going to have too many spots to fill to take the same approach as they have in the past.

The first two steps they are going to have to take is sort out what they're going to do with Flacco and once and for all end the legacy contracts. However hard it may be they have to cut loose some of the longtime favorites because their play on the field no longer justifies their salaries.Lewis,Reed,Birk,McKinnie and Boldins time has come and gone.Since they aren't all going to be replaced via the draft it is essential that they create enough cap space so they can at least be competitive with other teams for young starting quality free agents. The dumpster diving approach simply will not suffice this time around.

Joe was good this last game but whether or not he was capable of having a good game has never been the issue with him. It's about him showing some consistency and stringing together a few quality games.I would start him against the Bengals and if he has a good first half pull him at halftime. If he stinks it up in the first half against the Bengals I would leave him in until he can leave on a high note because him along with the team need some momentum heading into the post season.

It seems to me if the Ravens really believe they have a chance to win it all, they rest the starters and Flacco as well. It makes little difference being 3 or 4 but with NE playing after the Ravens it goes to show how the NFL really tries to protect NE. By playing late they don't have to play any of their hurt players if the Ravens lose. The NE game if played before or at the same time as the Ravens would have dictated how much time the straters play. Joe needs a rest as does Suggs, Reed, the offensive line, Boldin and any other starter who is dinged up. Joe Flacco needs a big time game in these playoffs to get that big pat day but at what cost? Will he put the Ravens in Cap Hell and than the whole team suffers.

I should have stayed away longer considering the Ravens had black unis in my chest all game long on Sunday.

I disagree. I believe Ozzie has shown in the past that he can manage a player purge and resurgence all in one off season. Besides, the defense, even minus Ray and Ed, is poised to be strong when healthy. If Ozzie can get the O-line beefed up a bit, I think this team has the other parts in place to continue to compete at a high level.

Draft strong as usual and pick up some value priced free agents afterwards. I think that model still works.

And I forgot to include the schtick... my apologies.

    C.J. Hunter has spoken again!

Well gang hate to brag but I must have been in Harbaugh's head this past week. Play Flacco like it was a pre season game, play no banged up players and see if we can still win it. Cincy played their best and even brang their 1st team back in to insure the win. We almost pulled it out. Didn't matter though and now we are ready to win it all. Joe is hot and when he is hot there is no better QB in the league. I predict a go in the show and Flacco to be the MVP of the SB.
