Ovie hasn't lost a couple of steps. He's lost linemates, he's lost the will to bring it every night and Stamkos is now the age Ovie was when Ovie scored 65. Ovie the last 2 months has FINALLY made some adjustments to his game. And shockingly up until the last week of the season he led all players in goals on the road. He's just reached a point where the regular season doesn't motivate him. He's accomplished all you can in the regular season and gets nothing but grief for his postseason record even though he's been phenominal in the playoffs but he gets the blame for not being able to "inspire" his lazy teammates into better postseason performances. When Stamkos leads all active players in pts per game in the playoffs(like Ovie currently does) come talk to me. Until then I still put Crosby,Malkin,Ovie and Datsyuk ahead of him.

Seems like every year Ovie busts his a s s in the playoffs and don't have s h i t to show for it except his numbers

I guess it's his fault that this organization hasn't advanced any further...

    And the "C"

some say he should be stripped...HOW WOULD THEY POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES ?

    Guess they know what's best

Thank you. Just irritates me people want it both ways: rip Ovie when he has huge regular seasons and say it means nothing, rip him when he's medicore in regular season and say it shows he sucks. Very real chance he'll never score 50 again(though he was at 49 goal pace since Christmas), when you look thru history just not many LW's that can hit that number once they pass 25 or 26 years of age. But that doesn't matter now, he needs Cups plural to cement his legacy as one of the best all time. I just don't think he has the front office in DC to accomplish it and Boston will show you what we're missing with their toughness, talent down the middle and quality on D. We've built our team with soft wingers and puck moving soft defensemen. Would be shocked if we won this series.

this team spends way too much time in their own zone....do you think it's because their soft ?

    I loved Alan Mays toughness

They're soft in terms of clearing out in front of the goalie and once they start taking hits they rush their passes out of the zone. Bos will dump the puck constantly and hit the crap out of our D all series long. Look for the Marchand-Seguin line to shadow Ovie and turn our mistakes into odd man chances/goals. We desperately need a Tinordi or Stevens in this series and instead of inserting Erskine it looks like Schultz is going to replace Orlov
Only chance we have is Holtby to stand on his head, Ward to be his usual playoff beast and Ovie,Semin,Backstrom,Laich and Brouwer to produce O. I don't like our chances. Bos in 6 but it wouldn't surprise if took 4 or 5

Schultz, you mean concrete feet ? IMO Erskine should be starting over this guy every time.

I know what does SUCK...Caps PP
    awful

    Ovies fault

other than that, Caps played a pretty good period. They seemed to get stronger the further in they got

still 3 minutes left to kill on the PP at start of 2nd

It's amazing Evanson still has a job running this crap PP. Ovie at the point, no ability to enter the zone, never any traffic in front, not enough shots.

I love Ovie but I vote Brooks Laich for Captain. Hands down, he's the hardest grinder on the team IMO

    I respect your opinion.
Laich does seem to work harder but only from a defensive perspective IMO.
whereas Ovie is a much better fore checker. But they both play different styles of hockey.

I don't see what others say about Ovie...things like he doesn't work hard in the defensive zone, he takes shifts off and so on. This guy hits and he hustles.

At times you will see him looking like he's not playing defense....but that's his game....that's what he's suppose to be doing.
He's looking to take advantage of certain situations leading to odd man rushes.

As for the C.....I don't necessarily think Laich doesn't deserve it... BUT Ovechkin has it. Would you strip him ? if so why ? For the record that might do more harm then good.

We have no clue what goes on in that locker room or on the ice for that matter.

    just my take

I am tired of the great 8, the first 8 teams of the NHL. They get calls the rest don't get.

So in this series how many OT PP's were there? How many for Caps

how many PP's after the 10 min. of the 3rd period? how many for Caps.

Sorry but if it could be called on the Caps it seemed to be and if it could be missed on the NYR it was.

Did the Caps play great? no.

Were the NYR that good? NO.

No idea about the breakdown of when the penalties were called, but the Caps had 118 PIMs (after 14 games), while the Rangers had 141 PIMs (after 15 games).

Bottom line - the Caps had their chances to score against the Rangers when a man up. The Caps scored 7 times when a man up (through 14 games), while the Rangers scored 10 times when a man up (through 15 games). 3 goals is huge in 1 goal games.

Plain and simple, here's why the Caps lost (from ESPN):

    None Shall Pass

    http://espn.go.com/

Not only do the Rangers have a better goalie than the Caps rookie goalie (although he stood on his head at times), but the Rangers simply have a better overall defensive unit than the Caps.

IMO, the best goalie right now is playing for the Kings...watch out.
