    Now that you have regained some semblance of control, perhaps you would like to give us your "common Sense" read of why Prince Fielder, who we know had held on to an offer from Detroit since Victor Martinez season ending knee injury, chose to wait weeks for an answer from Texas, who had already made it clear that his demands were out of the range that they could/would pay, if Texas was not Prince Fielders preferred choice of places to play?

    BTW I have been a Gentleman and replied to your amended post and not the one you so quickly deleted!
    the original post are the perils of talking on this board at work.

    I had a stressed out Friday and it leaked into the post. then this crappy board froze up for 15 mins. and I could pull it back to correct it. so don't take it too personally.

    giving you my opinion of why he landed in Det is just that, my opinion. but I wouldn't try to pass it off as fact or call it widely reported as you did. sorry dude, you got caught trying to pull the wool over our eyes. but no one on this board ever wants to admit they were wrong.

    I'm sure you enjoy winding people up. but I don't like engaging in discussions with those types of posters.

    The reports of Martinez's injury seem to have broken on Jan 17th (a Tuesday). A couple reports say he had injured it the week before, and an MRI confirmed the severity on that Monday (the 16th).

    News of him agreeing to a deal with Detroit broke on Jan 24th. So, that's one week... not "weeks".

    There were also reports that the Dodgers had offered him a deal that would have approached 26 million per year for 4 years, an opt-out after 4, and something in the low 20s for 3 more years. An enticing deal to consider obviously. More per year up-front, and a chance to go back on the market still close to his prime. But less guaranteed.

    That could have been another option he was weighing, and a reason why he took his time and let the market continue to percolate.

    did you happen to catch any of the wide-spread reports where PF said his A #1 preference was to go to the Rangers?

    DD brought in tons of talent! Many of them will compete for post season awards!

    More like:

    AJ = MVP?
    Chen = RoY?
    Jim Johnson = Cy Young?

    ...don't worry, I don't think we're there yet, but it is an intriguing thought.
