Under the new guidelines, which Gray signed while surrounded by Hispanic and African immigrants, D.C. police and corrections officials will not ask those they come in contact with about their immigration status. District police also will not enforce an ICE detainer or warrant issued against someone who has not committed another crime.

Police and jail officials are forbidden from contacting ICE to have the agency investigate the legal status of someone who has been arrested.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I was born here in Baltimore, but I do have some hispanic background. So I could be someone they could ask for "documentation". On one hand, since I would have no issue proving being a natural born citizen, I don't really care. On the hand I wouldn't want to be bothered or inconvenienced with that question.

As I listen to and read what our current leaders are saying, it is almost as if THEY are preying on the ILLEGALs in order to make them beholden to our politicians. To tell Police Officers that they cannot as someone's citizenship as part of investigating if a crime is being committed (and an illegal alien IS in the process of committing a crime) can just as easily be construed as ordering the police that if they see someone climbing out of a window they cannot ask if that person lives there!

What I want to know: where is all the concern from our elected officials for those of us who ARE law abiding citizens?

I agree. There's an elephant in the room, and the ones who want illegals to fly under the radar won't acknowledge it.
