Last time these two met, it ended in a 3-3 tie.

But Big Red better bring their A game, 'cuz Blue has a lot of future NHLers on the roster...

I am glad to see you made the right choice .......

when my daughter's school played my school earlier in the year I took her and we both wore are respective colors - just so happened to both be red ........

yea, it looks like michigan is more highly regarded team ......

the one cornell hockey game I made it to early this year they lost and it looked like it might be a down year but they have rebounded very nicely ..........

Unfortunately, if the men's NCAA basketball tourney is any indication...all the teams I root for lose.

I assume you mean in basketball. Md doesn't have D1 hockey.

Cornell is a 4 seed in the region. That's not too far off the mark, and if the goalie gets hot, it can make all the difference. I'm expecting a close game.

yep, we played cornell at comcast this year .....

some issue, alma mater vs kid's school (aka the one getting all your money) ........

probably a little worse in my case because my kids grew up in cole and comcast .......

had a 20something point lead at one point and cornell had 2 shots in the last 2 minutes to take the lead .....

Big Red was Sweet 16 in 09-10. When was the last time Md was sweet 16?

Problem for all Ivy's is - as soon as they have a good coach, and make a run in basketball, hockey or lax....a program that can throw more money at the coach attracts them away. Philosophical difference for the Ivy's...they just won't get in a bidding war for athletic preeminence. So, when an Ivy makes a run, IMO, it means a lot more than when Md or a Michigan make a run. It's cool.

yep , I was aware of that and in fact ........

the young man that took big red to the sweet 16 was called up to the nba (jazz) recently becoming the first player to make the big show in something like 50 years ......

of course all college basketball is just a shell of what it was when I was in college park from a talent standpoint ......

I watched UNC teams with Jordan, Perkins and Worthy all on the same team .......

the terp team that won the NCAA championship couldn't have beat any of the terp teams from when I was there ........

Can you dig it? As I said, it only takes a hot goalie. That game belonged to the Cornell goalie.

Excellent collegiate hockey game. Very physical match between too big teams.

As an aside, I got a text from my son who was watching the game at a bar in Seattle that caters to Mich alum....he said when Mich 2nd goal was waived off, he knew Mich was going to lose. He said they have had several games like that, and ultimately, it comes back to the waived off goal. He was dead on right.

FYI - BC and Union (from NY) are now the odds on favorites.

A tradition you don't see a lot of around here (at least i don't), but is very big in the Big Ten states, is to fly the flag of your school during bowl season or tournament time. I started with Michigan, Purdue and Cornell flags flying outside my house at the start of the NCAA basketball and hockey tourney's. I now have to lower the Michigan flag flying outside my house. Only Cornell's flag remains.

    Go Big Red!

    that was really disappointing .........

after that goal at 11 seconds they had 7 minutes of man up in the first 10 minutes of the 3rd period and couldn't put it away ........

the game winner was a beautiful goal so hats off to them ......

    Agree.

I still believe either BC (my first choice) or Minn is going to take it all. Cornell has one very good line, but then 2nd and 3rd lines not so much. Need more depth.

I'm upset because my neighbor went to Union College in NY, and is now going to be riding me. We were both hoping for a game between Union and Cornell. Oh well.

My last flag will be coming down this afternoon....

cornell player signed NHL contract this week .....

    http://cornellsun.com/section/sports...r-nhl-contract

Although the men’s hockey season is over, senior forward and alternate captain Sean Collins recently received news that his hockey career will continue after graduation. On Thursday, the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets announced that they were signing Collins to a two-year contract.

    Here's another one slaphot .....

    http://cornellsun.com/section/sports...emorial-trophy

On Monday, the NHL announced that New York Islanders left wing Matt Moulson ’06, a former Cornell hockey player, was one of the finalists for this year’s Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

    Fabulous!

On different note - I wish college hockey would go to a best of 3 or best of 5 playoff tournament system....instead of sudden elimination. I think they can do it because there aren't that many teams. I know it would lead to a more accurate determination of the ultimate national champ.
