I don't remember what he did against CHC. But does it matter? I know what he did against GC and the great plays he made in that game. He was a 9th grader starting for Gilman!

Since Biff Poggi has been the coach at Gilman there has only been 3 players to start Varsity from day 1. Victor Abiamiri(we know how that turned out, NFL), Brian Gaia(Penn State and 3 time All State Player) and Branch. Ambrose, Cyrus nor Darius started from the beginning. And he started for 1 of the best Gilman teams ever. That's really all you need to know about him as a player. This year there could be three more kids, Ellison Jordan(whose all but locked to start), Korey Stephens(remember this name!) and Antonio Dupree(all depends on Rhett), who could be starting for Gilman. Ellison and Stephens maybe from day 1, they are that good.

Although I saw Gilman against Oscar Smith and Good Counsel, I was busy texting a friend so I didn't pay attention. I paid attention in the two CHC/Gilman games. To get an unbiased report I went to a trusted source high up in the CHC braintrust. According to my source, Melvin Keihn, Chibuzo and Miles Norris were solid against CHC. Wyatt & Cockerille were very good. Branch struggled and Blair was ok in spot duty. Blair played more in the first game than the second.

My source also backs up your assertions of Gilman's returning & incoming talent. He gave kudos to Locksley, Rhett, Dupree & Maddox and for Shane's performances in the camp scene. My source also predicted that Branch will be much improved.

I see why you think CHC will lose by a lot to Gilman this season. Calvert Hall should just mail in the "L", huh?

I don't think CHC should mail it in but I think it will be tough to beat Gilman for any team in the MIAA. I think next year(barring transfers of course) Gilman will come back to the pack in the MIAA. I think McDonogh will be the favorites with CHC, Gilman right there and MSJ beig pretty strong as well.

I think Rhett will have a breakout season. I think he is better than he has shown. Dupree will see plenty of time and I think the kid will get a lot of carries. Gilman has to pass the rock. Their receivers are 6'5(Locksley), 6'4 (Tilley), 6'4 (Jabri McClean), 6'2(Branch) with Vincent being probably the best and shortest at 5'10 and all of them fast! They have a serious mismatch against anything they play at this position.

Thats what I thought the reason may have been.. Do Md public schools not allow kids to graduate early or something?

FYI.. Middletown was already a heavy favorite to repeat as State Champs.. They have two D1 offered Juniors (Wade and Godwin) with the addition of Ayres its a wrap...

Yes, one can graduate early in MD public schools. I did but I understand more core hours are required now then when I graduated a semester early. Stephon Diggs' roommate Kevin Dorsey graduated early to enroll at MD. I believe the receiver Paul Harris in the above list will graduate early to enroll at Tenn. So yes, early graduation can be done but one may have to go to summer school and /or night school to do so nowadays..

MIDDLETOWN ? Are the Cavaliers poised to make yet another run for the State Championship? It would be total nonsense to say they aren’t, with the amount of talent and experience that will be returning for this upcoming season. Middletown has reached Title game for the past two straight years showing they are a force to be reckoned with year in and year out. The story behind the remarkable runs are a group of young men named Darius Wade and Chris Godwin to name a couple, both of whom whos been making names for themselves not only in our beloved state, but throughout the country as well, especially with College recruiters from schools such as North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, University of Delaware, Alabama, Massachusetts and the list goes on. Two years ago these pair stepped on the Varsity field for the first time with no one expecting what would later come to pass. The duo has helped a team who was supposed to be rebuilding in some minds….only to later be State Champs. Now anyone who has played football or anyone who has played a team sport knows that its not one or two guys that wins games, it’s a TEAM effort, and some of the men who may not be as popular or well known as the two earlier mentioned are key components to success this team has brought in the past few years. Names such as Jamar Baynard at Halfback, Nick Digati at Linebacker, Jacob Smulski, Kenneth Hensley, Xavir Brooks and Jake Bricker in the trenches who all return as starters and not only hope to be in the big game…..but EXPECTS it and how could you argue it? You cant, The team was based of nothing but underclassmen the in 2010 against St. Marks and nearly pulled out a win in that game, only a year later to still be underclassmen and put forth a dominating performance against the #1 team just a few months back. With a tough schedule that looms around the corner with top teams such as Salesianum, Concord, William Penn and a few “2nd tier” could be beneficial later in the post season. Now its only May and id be stupid to start predicting Champions but until the season starts, the Cavaliers are, and should be at least one of THE favorite once again.

DePrep????? So are we talking about the Maryland Middletown KNIGHTS or some team in another state -- a Middletown Cavaliers? If we are talking about the MD Middletown team heavily favored to repeat as state champs then that's why I question your source. If you are talking about a Delaware team then my bad, I'm out.

I don't see the Calvert Hall players getting a lot of recognition in these predictions. The big question for CHC will be "Is the Whole Greater Then the Sum Of Its Parts?

    Lets Get this Started!

I think that for what CHC brings back they are getting a whole lot of recognition. Players that haven't started a fame are mentioned. Players like Kennedy Frazier, who I don't remember ever seeing play on Varsity, making teams. They are definitely getting the benefit of the doubt. I can't wait to see this hype this Saturday on the field!

Its not only CHC players, they have a lot of kids on these list that have never been on the field at a varsity level. It will all soon be out on the field and judgements will be made. Lets all remember it is not these kids fault that they may or may not be over hyped. Lets focus on the positives and not the personal attacks on these kids. I am not saying this was any type of attack.

Well, being a newbie (still) Please explain to me why JMT is the final answer? I am curious what the credentials are and how JMT arrives at his decisions. I noticed a lot of changes/new names and wonder why. Who is JMT?

Not sure what his actual credentials are but JMT is one of the voters for the All State teams and State Team Poll. So what he says does mean something as his votes will determine who makes these teams. Obviously there are other people who have votes as well.

If I'm wrong JMT, please correct me.
