Team Maryland Elite-17u Gold beat Marissa Coleman Elite pretty handily. They look pretty good with the core of Dada Burton(city) Dionna White(millford)Jasmine Smith, and Tierra Pendleton(poly)
The addition of South River's Bre Bolden and Big Girl Infiniti Alston will help, as well as the girl from Perry Hall.

How does everyone feel about girls playing on more than one aau or elite team? I know it's a reality these days, but it just doesn't sit right with me. Is it fair to the team when the "star" players don't attend all practices, miss games, and then show up and play? What message is that kid learning who may not be as talented, but works hard and is always there, ready to play. I know some that are spreading themselves out onto three different teams. I know everyone wants their kid to get the college looks, but three teams seems ridiculous.

Also, why are some of these aau/ elite teams carrying 14-15 girls? Too many people- wouldnt some of these kids be better off on another team, but getting some run? 5-6 girls that play the same position?

Summer vacation is the only thing I can think of for carrying that many players. Really tough to go 12 deep let alone 15. Pretty sure, I would not like having a player playing for someone else in addition to being on my team. Conflicting coaching philosophies not to mention physical and mental burn out, and time management.

It can be lots of reasons why players are playing on two or more teams. The first is that they are trying to get recruited and get their name out there and on other thing is they might think they are better then one team. I don't like it and that player would have to make a decision about what team she won't to play for. As far as two many player, it's all about the money. so program charge around $550 per player and if you have 15 player that's $8,250 for the organization.

Early exams for a pair of local juggernauts as the Maryland Belles travel down to the Boo Williams Nike Invitational and compete in the top 32 team Newport News Division and the Shooting Stars go to the Hoosier state to play in the 16 team Elite bracket at the Addidas Hardwood Championships. The MD Belles take on DFW T-Jack and the AOT Rebels in the first 2 games of pool play while the Shooting Stars meet Indiana Swish in the first round with a possible second round matchup with Midwest Elite should they advance. It will be a great litmus test to see how some of the area's best matchup with some of the nations best.

T-Jack features the top rising junior in 6'4 Brianna Turner, 6'3 post Jada Terry, guard Breanna Hayden and one of the top guards in the '14 class in McKenzie Calvert. AOT has top 5 Diamond DeShields, Maryland recruit Lexie Brown, South Carolina recruit MIa Cooper and her sister T'ea Cooper, who is one of the top 5 guards in the '15 class and who has already commuted to UNC. Should give Tuck', Allen, Harrison (Maryland), King and Alston (Penn State) a preview of the comp they'll see at the next level.

The Belles MD come back from 22 down, to go up double digits, beat national defending champ T-Jack. Jannah Tucker takes over, Tyshell King shines as she re-opens recruitment. #boowilliams @aka_themamba

Default DMV represents well at the Deep South Tournament

The Deep South Tournament was another excellent showcase event held throughout the Raleigh/Durham area in NC. There were over 9 different programs from the DMV participating this year with each program sending multiple teams. The Lady Terps had another outstanding tournament playing in the U17A-Signature bracket against outstanding elite competition. The Terps won their bracket(4-0) and lost in the Tournament championship game to the WPA Bruins in hard fought contest that was packed with coaches and loaded with DI players. All of the Terps games were packed with coaches and their Friday game was standing room only of colleges coaches. The Germantown Panthers also had an outstanding tournament and stormed through the U16B-National bracket. They won their bracket and lost a tough one in the Tournament final to the Metro Stars from MN. They provided another strong showing from the DMV. The Panthers played in front of huge crowds of college coaches and had a great following. Great job to the Lady Panthers. The PSP Rams won the U16 Signature championship beating a very impressive U15 Alana Beard Future team. Both programs had a good tournament showing. Congrats to the Rams! Congrats to all of the other DMV teams that went 3-1 and had a good tournament. It is abundantly clear that our area is loaded with exceptional talent. Good luck in July!

Congrats to Lindsay Allen on her commitment to University of Notre Dame. Both Allen and Tucker made Boo Williams all-tournament team.
