As for Wieters, it's great to see him develop and do well, but it's also hard to watch in a way, because everyone knows that in a few years we'll be seeing him play this way in a Red Sox or Yankees uniform, making 18 million a year.
but then we'll have the entertainment of reading all the "Wieters isn't worth that kind of money" and "Wieters is washed up" threads. it won't make up for losing an impact players, but at least it's something

The bar for doing that is clearly set quite high. Meanwhile, how's your old lady doing? Still giving it up left and right?

I appreciate your reference to me as "Ace." It seems very appropriate. If I ever suffer through an identity crisis, I'll change from Hector to Ace.

And amazing how you'd forget about a guy who was MVP only 2 yrs ago.
I'm not. But you show your trollness by mentioning that .275 20 and 75 are not outstanding years for a catcher.

And Hector, Morneau "taking a few years off"? After a bad concussion? What is wrong with you?

And by the way, Wieters may not stay in Balt, But here's betting he ends up in an NL park or South. He won't go up to either of those teams.

if he produces those types of numbers, the price goes up, as does the likelihood he'll be playing elsewhere at the end of his current contract....if he does produce, he'll be the exception rather than the rule when it comes to the way this team drafts and develops players....

and yes petunia, he is in the top 3 of catchers today and he's only going to get better...

as far as insulting your intelligence--- can't insult what you don't possess

He looks really good. Its a shame he has to play on the bird's. Love to see him catch real pitching.

Well....considering he was supposed to be the end all in be all of C's and was anointed the Baseball Jesus or something like that (certianly not outside of Baltimore).....275/20/75 seems rather middling eh?

Considering Mauer spent 3 seasons in the Minors right now Wieters is where Mauer was when he was a rookie - only Wieters over 1250 ABs, one All-Star, and one Gold Glove ahead of Mauer's pace.

Besides Mussina what other prominent free agent, in their prime, have the Orioles let walk away? I think they tend to hold on to guys they should trade or let walk.

When was the last time the Orioles actually had a player in their prime?

Palmiero left the first time. Alomar left.

the answer would be they haven't produced anyone of that caliber since Moose...kind of a useless question...

Kind of like it’s useless to assume that since they allowed Mussiana to walk they would allow Wieters to walk? From what I see they keep guys they should trade or let walk for draft picks. Off the top of my head, Mora, Markakis, Roberts.....Roberts for Weeks would have been pretty good trade?

you said that with a straight face right? Markakis and Roberts are really bad examples since signing them wasn't a baseball move, these were PR moves designed to give the appearance of caring...some bought it (like you), most like me said "and where are the rest of the pieces?".......

this team is dismal at anything except making excuses....

I think we agree more than you think, they won't let Wieters walk because of bad PR. They'll give him the 20 million year coming off the Markakis and Roberts contracts. They won't sign/spend to get the other pieces needed.

No Boras client has ever been a star and not tested FA. Wieters is gone the moment his contract is up.

20 million? surely you jest....who was the highest paid Oriole in history? How much did he get and when was that? It is highly unlikely angelo$er is going to pay Weiter's 50% more than this player.....

angelo$er will offer Wieter's about $12 million....or about $8 million under market value....

someday that mythical MASN money will show up.....
