Are you saying the law that was repealed only referred to women? Do you have statutory language to that effect?

If you are going to draft an equal pay law, I'd suggest it be an equal pay law. While women may be the more likely to suffer discrimination, there is no reason man cannot, and any law written should be as gender-neutral.

I haven't looked that up. From the article, again, it seemed to only refer to women. That said,

If you have a law that has good intentions but doesn't cover everyone do you

    (A) Scrap the whole law or
    (B) Rewrite the law to make it fair?

    Explain.

Here's the bill the governor signed.

    Wisconsin Act 20 (2009).

I don't see where women get some special provisions of the law.

The "gap" is due to CHOICES women make, but lying liberals need to lie and pretend it's willful discrimination behind. it. Why do you have lie?

Why are you liberals such liars? Why do you need to create a fraud?

This gender pay gap is a FRAUD and you should be ashamed for perpetuating it. It should be criminals. The people behind this crap should be thrown on jail for their fraud.
How could we have forgotten that the only true discrimination is against smokers.

    The repealed law:
. . . allowed individuals to plead their discrimination cases in the less costly state circuit court system, rather than just in federal court, a provision the newest legislation rolled back.

    * * * * * * *

The law approved by Walker removes the ability for victims of wage discrimination to go to court for compensatory and punitive damages, although they still have the ability to seek back pay. Hynes noted that Walker previously signed legislation that puts a limit on the amount of attorney's fees victims can recover in lawsuits, making it even less likely that wronged employees will take their cases to court.
Equal pay discrimination is real and documented, and court cases are often difficult to win -- check out Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire.
Now those cases will be more difficult to win, and since employers can no longer be sued for compensatory or punative damages, there's no incentive to not break the law because it can only cost them back pay.

While the gap has closed, the law Walker signed cuts back a woman's right to get her case heard in court.

LOL @ Gender pay gap. Do you feel any guilt for perpetuating a shameless fraud?

What's the end goal libs/feminazis? To tax men at higher rates? To mandate that part time teachers and HR workers make as much as CEOs?

What is your ultimate goal? Becaues equality clearly isn't it.

In the private sector, how does one know if they are receiving less than the opposite gender for the same experience/skills? In my experience, salaries are confidential and there isn't necessarily a defined pay scale.

It's interesting that your so-called response amounts to exactly what you ***** about the most. You offer nothing to dispute; you only repeat Limbaughesque talking points.

Nothing in the repealed legislation mandated a thing. It merely helped create a level playing field in which people who believed they had been discriminated against could sue with at least a chance of winning.

Of course, if these women could only show that they were smokers, they'd have your support.

That's part of the problem. In Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire, the woman worked for years being paid less than men doing the same job with equal or less experience. She found out years after her pay was initially set, and the Court ruled that the timeclock for taking the employer to court started running with the first unequal paycheck -- hence the need for legislation.

Where's your outrage? Where are the laws to protect men?
Duh, it's choices make. And then when they turn 30, decide to have kids, etc, they make lifestyle choices that impacts pay.
    That's life. Deal with it.

You are perpetuating a fraud, and outright lie. Why? What is the ultimate goal here of the people perpetuating the gender pay gap fraud?

Are you going to force women into higher paying fields, or tax men more and redistribute the money to women? What's your goal?

The issue is about equal pay for EQUAL work, not disparity over different career paths. I would have thought that was obvious.

Yo Matt, how many times does this clown get to call me a liar?

The problem is that to get that 76 cents per dollar figure different career paths are not considered. Read the article I linked to on post #18.

Despite assertions to the contrary, Wisconsin Republicans are specifically targeting women and minorities in their latest legislative and executive decisions. Notably, Scott Walker repealed a law allowing women to earn the same wages as men who do the same jobs (and have the same amount of experience), and signed into law a bill preventing women and minorities from seek monetary recompense if discriminated against by their employers.
So, they have no longer access to the Internet for sex-ed?

They'll bring up that female doctors make less than male doctors, but then ignore that women go into general practice and dont' stick around in specialities, to the point it hurts the medical profession.

Since this law applied to all people regardless of sex, it's a little unfair to imply that women are being singled out under this law.
It's not unfair at all. When the vast majority of wage discrimination (gender based) goes one way, it's simply a fact that the effect mainly is on women.

It's like saying that breast cancer isn't a woman's health issue. Sure there are a few men who are afflicted, but seriously?

Come on ..... he gets to call you a liar as many times as you call other people names. that is a simple rule, that is fair for everyone.

What wage discrimination? Should women get paid more for less hours worked so their pay will be equal to men who work longer hours? Should lesser paying jobs that women tend to gravitate to have artificially higher pay so women can make as much as men in jobs that traditionally have higher pay?

Also men work more dangerous jobs. Danger pay. How many women get killed in mining accidents? Zero. It's all about choices that men and women make when it comes to the type of work, the hours, etc.. That's why this whole thing is dishonest, and there's an ulterior motive of the liberals behind this fraud.
