Even bad umpiring can't save us. Down to our final out.

Maybe someday folks inside the warehouse will realize that you need to outscore the opponent to win games... and actually add talented offensive players to the lineup.

    Eh, who am I kidding???

Markakis needs to be swinging at those pitches with an 0-2 count. Defend the plate. He let strike 3 go by him twice. The second time, the umpire called it. Disappointing game.

I swear, the next time we see Nick get a big hit in the late innings against NY or BOS... it will be the first time.

One of those games where a couple of big (expensive) bats in the middle of the order might have made a difference. Count on about 15 to 20 more of these to come over the next 6 months.

Then next November, count on folks parroting the line "why spend money on bats when the pitching is so bad?"

    The cycle never, ever ends...

Shut down by Clay Rapada. What a pathetic display. Sweep comes tomorrow, but we should probably get used to those.

Also, is there a worse bottom of the order in baseball? There can't be. This lineup has 4 players who deserve to be in the majors.

Every Oriole batter that looked at a third strike should be fined $3K and the money donated to the Lions Club or Eye Bank. That was pathetic to see so many called third strikes.

I am so not a fan of the intentional walk and to Ibanez too, a professional hitter. I mean another lefty and not some Mendoza line hitting back up catcher or something. Is this in the book too ? I told my father when they walked Granderson that they would pay because they always do... I mean a .267 career hitter with one breakout year last season treated like he's Pujols, c'mon.

All else aside, the ridiculous error at 3rd on a routine grounder was the killer.

Palmer was beside himself with disgust.

They need to stop playing Mark Reynolds at 3rd base. The difference between an average hitter and a hall of famer is one hit a week... Reynolds defense EASILY is giving the opposition 3 or more hits a week... Reynolds defense tonight gave the Yankees 5 outs in the 11th inning...

The Orioles would win more games with a .225 hitter playing 3rd base with little power versus Reynolds playing 3rd place with 40 HR's and 200 strikeouts a year, not including the errors and plays he should make but don't count as an error.

    Bench Reynolds... Period...

Reynolds is best suited for DH. He looked decent at 1B last year in a short stint. Who knows whether that was just coincidence (very possible) or there was more to it... but regardless, the guy should see no more than two positions all year... DH and/or 1B. Moving him back to 3rd is absolutely mind-boggling.

It looked to me like Nick took a rather strange route to the Ibanez double.

Yeah, he definitely went sideways towards center before turning and going towards the wall. He might not have seen it well off the bat. I don't think he would have got to it no matter what, though. It was hit on a pretty good line and landed halfway on the track.

Watching it live he had me confused by how he was running. At first I thought he might have the catch, but when he changed directions and headed for the wall you knew it wasn't going to be good.

Watched this game in a bar with a bunch of Yankees fans. Brutal. What a winnable game that just slipped away through ineptitude. Chen looked good though, the ump had a big zone but still he was running through that lineup. And good to see Garcia suck, he was awful.
