Default Here we go again terrible team and coach..

First buck leaves chen in too long then when our 7,8,&9 batters couldnt hit his way out of a wet paper sack he nevers gives any of the 3 bench players a shot. Couldnt have done any worse. Now as for this thing called a team...my god can anyone get a clutch hit. Looking more and more like getting swept is almost a sure thing unless Arrieta pulls out another performance like he did opening day and I dont even know if that will be enough.

Sabathia throws a 9 inning, 4 hit shutout tomorrow. This lineup is so bad that Brian Matusz could get them out.

They don't get a lot of clutch hits because they don't have a lot of good hitters. The off-season is always the time to address that perennial issue... and they never do.

Worse, they had a clutch hitting future Hall of Famer last season and didn't re-sign him.

This thread s an example of why we lost many of the good contributors in this forum over time. I guess misery loves company.

    Fact: The Orioles are 3-2.
Fact: The Orioles have not found a way to beat the Yankees or any team in its division. Until they do, they are going nowhere.
Fact: The Orioles do not have a proven clutch power hitter.
Fact: All the whining in the world will not change that.

I also disagree with the OP about leaving Chen in. It wasn't Chen's fault that Reynolds misplayed a ball that most third basemen handle routinely (that opened a hole that the Yankees were alk too happy to fill). IMO Chen was doing great up unto that point.

I also like that Showalter doesn't have a quick hook on the starters. Over time that will pay dividends.

Yeah, but they have alot of guys with good "on-base percentages."

Not yet they don't. The two players (Johnson and Betemit) brought in to replace Hall of Famer Vlad are hitting a combined .150 with no homers and 2 RBI's.

Buck left hammel in during an uncertain point in the game, and he got out of it. so I can see why he would go for it again. it sucks to see them lose the lead, but remember that these pitchers are new to the team, and in some cases the league. if we're being reasonable, it's a calculated risk with greater reward. Buck is learning the limits of his new pitchers. if Chen had gotten out of it, it would go a long way toward knowing how far to ride that horse later in the season.

it's important to remember that, while it's reasonable to expect the O's won't be in any pennant races this year, they are playing the game as if they will be. and if you were on the O's, wouldn't you be playing with the objective of winning the WS? I expect nothing less, and I feel cheated when I see a player or manager dog it or phone it in.

play to win, even when you're up against a superior opponent.

this team doesn't have a roster of viable major league talent....showalter can only do so much to squeeze the maximum out of what he has...the falws on this team cannot be hidden for long...

It's MANAGER, and you do know this is the Orioles, right? They have perfected the art of letting wins slip away like no other team. Don't blame this on Buck, though. Chen got out of the inning if Stone Hands Reynolds could field a ball that most little leaguers scoop up.

It's funny, I remember all those offseason posts here about how Reynold's would be DHing and not playing third

Buck is the one who sets the roster and lets Reynolds trot out to 3B every game though.

That would be the smart thing to do, but the Orioles usually do the opposite of that. Reynolds would be a good DH for most teams including the O's. Instead we go out and sign two other DH's. So we now have what?? 4 1B/DH on this team now? And no one who can play a decent 3B.
