I read this today and could not believe what I am reading, and feel like I as an Orioles fan since 1963 I am now officially living in the "Twilight Zone" (key the music as I type). Brian Roberts in his "recovery" could only "watch" seven innings, and that was "too much" for him to handle?????? If "watching anything is "too much" for a person, than there is something drastically wrong and he should just retire right now.

As as Orioles fan I have had to suffer through some of the most absurd and ludicrous injuries ever known in sports, including Marty Cordova's tanning incident, Jason Johnson's broken finger while practicing throwing without a ball, Roberts hitting himself in the helmet while swinging his bat, and now this absurdity as part of his "recovery." What is he blind that watching something is too much to handle??? I liked him as our leadoff hitter and would have welcomed him back but he just needs to hang up the spikes and quit milking a paycheck he has no intention of earning again.

It may be too soon yet to say this but Andino is showing as much bat and glove as Roberts would bring at this point (age) anyway. The more Andino performs, the less stories we'll hear about BRob. Time to bury the dead horse!

Roberts is still in the clubhouse only to set an example to his teammates of what not to do as an Oriole! The contract ends after next year and the annual pay is too much to avoid. The dude will retire as soon as his deal ends and live in anonymity in Florida thereafter until he gets elected to the Orioles hall of fame. He'll get elected cuz there are will be so few other alternatives for the Orioles advocates to consider. Some years it would be nice if the advocates just decided to pass on choosing another addition. Guys like Hoiles were decent for a year or two but they tarnish the process and their fellow members by dumbing down the talent!

It's his doctor's orders to watch 4 innings one day 7 innings another. He's now taking batting and fielding practice every day. He should be back by the All star break barring another setback. And his money is guaranteed so theres no need for him to be here to collect a paycheck

Anyone who played football in high school twenty years ago probably has. Personal experience does not make one an expert in medicine however. And, you would think a person suffering from prolonged health difficulties would seek multiple solutions if the first few courses proved fruitless after expiration of a reasonable timeframe.

Has Roberts been seen by multiple specialists? It has been reported he has only seen two doctors and the human body is not predictable like an automobile. If I had a chronic problem I would give my Doctor's advice a reasonable period to work and then seek alternatives when the regimen proved fruitless. How long does Brian need until he considers alternatives? How long would you wait before you sought a different approach to a problem? How long will the O's wait until they insist their $10M/Yr investment consider other expert advice?

Roberts was one of my favorite Orioles when he was a young prospect behind Hairston.

I was actually at the Spring Training game were Hairston broke his fingers and Brian got his chance.

just heard he will be playing a 2 inning game of wiffle ball when the os return home next weekend, with the kids of some of the players. the birds have styled a new helmet for him, similar to the one worn by magneto in the xmen movies. it differs from magnetos, in that it has a dark tinted flap which also covers his face. the team has submitted the prototype to the major league office for approval. roberts has been wearing the helmet around the team hotel[of course he never leaves his room].

he gets rattled when he sees or hears the maids pushing their carts in the hall and when they speak spanish he has been having panic attacks. he has a hard time in the locker with the chinese and japanese press. when they are around he wears the helmet constantly[and keeps his eyes shut]. its almost as if someone hit the guy in the head with a bat. oh thats right, he did.

I love all the shots taken at The Oriole franchise and the players. It is similar to the looters you would see during a riot. Just taking an opportunity to "enrich" themselves because they seem to thrive off of their own negativity. The infantile tantrums are getting ridiculous.
