Default Michigan transfer commits to MD

Evan Smotrycz has confirmed he's coming to MD per Jeff Ermann of Inside MD sports. Add him to your Power Forward depth chart

Sounds like he actually has small forward skills from his 3 point %, I guess he's sitting out a year right?

Gotta give it up to Turgeon: took over a terribly undersized roster and in 11 months has added 6 players 6-8 or taller(Layman,Cleare,Mitchell,Len,Dodd,Smotrycz)

totally agree, he has definately beefed up the front court, I mean our 3's are gonna be bigger than our 4's were in past years....can't wait for next season to start!!!

Two legit centers, two legit PFs, a bonafide three and a project. It all looks good but the game revolves around a stellar PG. That ain't Faust, Howard or Stoglin. All three are good but none is a floor general. Turgeon is an ex-PG however and he will get max out of Faust if that's the only choice next year. The Harrisons would have a great opportunity in College PArk. Sadly, so would have Britt if he'd committed.

Can't get the Harrisons now unless somebody leaves early or transfers. My bet is Stoglin leaves early but the Harrisons still choose Kentucky over us.

    He can't play next season.

    '12-'13 season before he's contributing.

next season is 12-13, he won't be eligible till 13-14, but will have 2 years left, they say he will benefit from turgeon's coaching because his weaknesses are rebounding and d and he is a similar player to a kid he had at A&M who flourished under coach T

    Yep, not next year.

Kind of ironic about his D, since that's what the B1G is all about. His mom is quoted in the Ann Arbor paper as saying her son "has been unhappy" for some time. No other reason given. Wonder if it had to do with him loosing the starting position? He's a pretty good 3 pt shooter (40+ %).

From what I've read and heard, he transferred because he wasn't happy with how he was being used. He (correctly) sees himself as a 3/stretch 4 who plays facing the basket, whereas Michigan had him banging around in the paint against guys who outweighed him by a lot.
