    Default How's this for balance

Over the past 40 seasons (1972-2011), the Orioles have had 20 winning seasons and 20 losing seasons and interestingly no .500 seasons. I used the win-loss numbers from the Orioles website. In this time they have won 3162 games and have lost 3172 games and have one championship. From 1972-1985, they had 14 straight winning seasons . From 1986-1997 they had 6 winning seasons and 6 losing seasons. From 1998-2011, they have had 14 straight losing seasons Why did I go back 40 years? I'm turning 40 this year so I wanted to see how my O's have done during my lifetime. I remember first following the team in 1979. Believe it or not it was the orange uniforms that caught my attention. Win or lose, I'll always follow and root root root for the team, but unlike other homers, when they play like crap, I'll say it. Unfortunately, the last 14 years has been a lot of crappy play. I hope the next 40 years are better. And I hope I'm around to see them.

Sadly, they had winning seasons the four years before 1972, so I suppose, for symmetry's sake, we have to live through 4 more years of losing.
