Default Japanese Mega Corporation Sony Staggers Under Weight of Multi Billion Dollar Losses

Sony has forecasted an annual loss of $6.4bn, double its previous estimate and a record loss for the firm.

The grim forecast comes as Sony's new chief executive, Kazuo Hirai, prepares a turnaround plan, which he is expected to outline on Thursday.

Reports say the company is planning 10,000 job cuts as Sony exits businesses that are not profitable or central to the firm's strategy.

Affirmative Action and unions were Sony's undoing.

Sounds to me that it was more likely due poor product development planning than affirmative action and unions.
To retaliate in kind would do nothing but intensify the existence of hate in the universe. Along the way of life, someone must have sense enough, and morality enough, to cut off the chain of hate. ~~ MLK

You know, I didn't realize it was you who posted until after I posted. Figured I'd leave it up there anyway.

Bingo. Sony never kept up with product development and lost its brand name luster. Sony rested on its laurels for at least a decade if not longer, now its time to pay the Piper.

After going through a Westinghouse and a Viseo TV in short order last year the Sony Bravia was a superior product in its class by miles. Sony's one of the few brands that have maintained their quality over the years in my experience. I hope they don't go under. Japan is just pulling out of the economic doldrums and a Sony failure would have major impact.

Great, now all those American customers can purchase their HDTV's from American-made, union-employed, US-based factories.

    Oh, wait a minute......
