Cool. I be that was awesome.

I was just checking out photos on line. I'd have loved to have seen that.

I took a very short video of it as well. Tried to put it on FB but get the usual error

The pics the media have are much better. Really wish I brought my SLR with me.

I saw it way back in the 80s when it flew over Baltimore once. It certainly is pretty cool.

Nice shot. Anyone catch any shuttle launches down in FL?

I've wanted to in the past, but end up not wanting to deal with all the traffic

I saw a launch from a cruise ship that was just leaving Port Canaveral. It was a dusk launch. Pretty cool!

    SPOILSPORT ALERT !!!

The space shuttle is so 80's I had hoped by now we'd have something more Star Trekish something that took of and landed on it's own.

    But

    That is a cool picture.

Hey, I know what you mean, georjec. According to Arthur C. Clarke, we were at least supposed to be hitching a spaceship to Jupiter by now. And in the Star Trek universe, we'd be way out of the solar system by now.

Not in star trek. Humans don't develop FTL travel until the 22nd century.

It's been retired and is on its way to a museum. Great pic. I'm impressed you managed that picture without a SLR. Takes me minutes to set up a shot otherwise. Well done, manlet.

Ah, my mistake. Still, space travel still seems at an awfully primitive stage now. And with no one wanting to invest in it, aside from the orbital tourist trips, I don't see the human race doing a whole lot of travelling anytime soon.

Well, the reality is, warp drive is impossible.. Going even the speed of light is impossible. The only only prayer we could have would be to find a wormhole, and god knows where those are. The only thing we have going for us is time dilation, if you go fast enough, but that sucks for everyone else who remains on earth, they will be long dead when the crew gets back.

And we can't even go 10% of the speed of light though we have the technology, because of the nuclear test ban treaty.

Well, I don't know how we're even going to make it to Mars or beyond. It's a very expensive and dangerous trip. #1, I don't see politicians or taxpayers wanting to set aside the money for it, and #2, as soon as there is a fatal accident, which will inevitably happen, the politicians and public opinion will turn against it.

    I think it's really a shame.
