Wink Reimold - Who stole his at bats?

Was it not Pie and now Chavez who have largely been Reimold's primary at bat alternatives? Interesting? Through 11 games in 2012, Chavez has gotten 4 starts I believe. How many games did Reimold watch while Pie manned LF in the past few years. I now wonder if the reason why Reimold's growth has been hindered is an Oriole mgmt bias toward playing Latino players.

I'm assuming you heard of the personal issues Nolan dealt with the last 2 seasons?

Now that his head is clear, he's doing what he was capable of seems to me. Hopefully anyway.

Paging hector to address weenie's claim that the Orioles prefer Latino players.

Honestly, I'm a big Reimold fan. I watched as he did well in the minors and found the Pie addition puzzling when McPhail arranged it. I understand healthy competition but young players can lose spirit when mgmt pushes them aside for other favorites like Andy did with Felix.

The last few years both Reimold and Davis got yanked from their lineups if they went hitless for one or two games. Fear is not usually a good motivational tactic. The fact Andino, Reimold and Davis all have spots now largely reserved just for them is IMO no small element in their sudden surges.

I just wish they'd keep Chavez as the utility outfielder and stop trying to platoon him with Nolan. It's early and things may/will change but mine is an impatient complaint.

I don't think Nolan's head was fully focused on Baseball during that timeperiod. Management was aware of his personal issues, and hence he was platooned.

His head is clear (and foot better too), and management is playing him daily

I don't know anything about his personal life, but he has certainly gotten off to a great start this year. last night's late inning sprint to catch what would have been a 2b or 3b to the power alley (as well as most likely preserve the win) is something Pie and Luke Scott couldn't have done if they were both playing left field at the same time.

it would be incredible if this turns out to be the player he actually is.

Nolan was unfortunately slowed by foot injuries and other issues the past couple seasons. It looks like he is at full power, refreshed, mature and ready to rock!

I may need to re-evaluate my opinion now that the O's have two Latino backup catchers and amazingly, neither is named Molina. I don't think the prior regime (AM) had an anti-Latino bias since they had the smarts to sign and play Vlad and Pie. As to the current regime, I'm absolutely certain that they're fully aware of my unrelenting pursuit of truth and justice for all (including Latinos) and that's probably why they're looking for more Latinos to quell the criticism.

Reimold had been benched long before the so-called personal issues came up. If the problems were serious enough to keep him out of the lineup, they should have put him on the DL. The fact is that Reimold has never been given a fair shot over a period of time, even after he has shown his ability. He had proven himself as a left fielder when Pie was purchased. But Reimold was not allowed to recover completely from an injury; rather, Pie was given the job; Reimold was forced to try to compete and then sent down to Norfolk. His "personal" problems came later. The whole Pie Saga was befuddling. Clearly his place in the lineup was not due to his performance. Some kind of bias had to be involved. At any rate the O's have been deprived of Reimold's talents for several years now, and he has been deprived unjustly of service time in the MLs. A sad story. Of course, Messrs Schmuck and Connolly, the latter especially, have always been ready to disparage Reimold's achievements.

I read an article the other day-that he (Nolan) was surprised about sitting because he tweaked his hamstring….

To me he always seems to be going all out, when he makes mistakes its because of aggressiveness (driving in stands for out #2 with a man on 3rd in the late innings….) usually coaches don’t mind those type of mistakes.

There’s got to be some reason us (fans/general public)don’t know because Trembley and now Buck don’t have him in the lineup every night

It's all cuz McPhail and Angelos are liberal self loathers. Their bias against those of Anglo/Saxon heritage in favor of latinos is at the root of the last several years of poor performance by the O's. How else could one explain signing Vlad for $8M when no other team would even give the guy the league minimum last year. Add in the Ponson contract....... and it's a preponderance of evidence right?

    Lighten up people. I'm kidding!
