Retire? Vote his crooked ying-yang out of office, along with his co-conspirator Busch, it's as simple as that. How hard is it people? Oh wait, no one wants to stop the gravy train, got it.

I'll take Miller or Busch any day. Miller is more shady but Busch loves tax increases the way Monica love Clinton's.... And Busch is a big digester!

who's gonna vote them out? They bring home the bacon to their districts, that's all the district voters seem to care about, and the rest of us don't get to vote against them. And, being Senate President and Speaker of the House lets them bring back a huge amount of pork, so they are probably well- liked in their respective districts.

Yes, but even stronger I would think when YOUR Senator is the President of the Senate or YOUR Delegate is the Speaker of the House, I would think ,many voters, even if not really enamored with the individuals, might be loath to vote against them, I mean the power of YOUR representative is quite enhanced if they hold such leadership posts. You might want YOUR rep. to hold such a post even if you don't agree with his politics, in case you need something, and of course, when its coming to YOUR district, its money well spent, when it's going to someone else's district, its pork. Busch got a bunch of extra off- budget items sneaked through not too long ago- and get this--- The Annapolis Capital Newspaper, which is fairly conservative editorially and very fiscally conservative, praised him for it and endoreses him every election for just that reason- he is Speaker and "gets things done for his district"

But you're right, as I said before, when the measure of an elected officials' worth is measured by the standard of how much bacon he brings home to the district regardless if it is money well spent and truly for STATE ( or Federal) needs, then, well that's what we get, this screwed up system that we have now- Congress approval rating is what, under 20%? Yet, well over 95% usually win re-election-- go figure.

If I'm not mistaken, surprisingly, Busch doesn't win by all that much and has just squeaked by a few times, which is contrary to what I said above, but, he is in a three-Delegate district, where the top 3 vote getters are in while, everyone below is out, and his district does have a significant conservative component to it-- I believe a few times he has just barely made the cut.

The voters aren't asleep at the polls, this is what they want. It simply comes down to the fact that party trumps everything in politics these days. The two parties have been crafting this atmosphere for quite some time, and they have come as close to achieving 100% party loyalty as they likely ever will. They talk about the need to compromise and keep the discourse civil, but in reality they are constantly rattling their sabres at the other side. They have created this atmosphere of partisanship for their own benefit. When their constituents go to the polls, the most important thing is that the candidate of their party wins, not what he stands for, has accomplished, or intends to accomplish.

Speak for yourself. I've voted against my party quite a few times in my 28 years of voting.

well, you're a very unique individual, ken, we all know that and I mean that in a positive way, but he is speaking I'm quite sure in general terms, you would more be the exception that proves the rule. It seems so, as with MD being 2/3 dems forever, it sure isn't Republicans sending likewise 2/3 dems to the legislature year after year and probably not too many Indies like myself either.

Um, yeah. I agree....to a point. But I was making the point that while Miller is distancing himself from the fact that it really was about gaming, Owe'Malley is taking money from the casinos.

newsflash: Miller is ready to talk now.

Oh, and by the way, now they are going to sheer the sheep that make $75,000 a year. Because they are rich

So, they just lowered the ceiling on who the 1% in Maryland are. Too bad everyone who makes $75,000 a year doesn't leave like those millionaires did a couple of years ago.

    Baaaaaaaa.
