Silly me. I expect employees of the attorney general's office to follow the law. Not drive drunk, drive drunk again, and smoke pot with rapists.

I was thinking the same thing. It is amazing to me that some things even need to be said.

That's even if Mr. Snowden informed Mr. Hill that he is only on a sabatical from the SAG's office. So he's still technically employeed by the state and cannot represent him any civil or criminal matters. Mr. Snowden was just a good caring lawyer in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Let me ask you a question. A lawyer brings his client to a police station to surrender him and they find marijuana on the client. Are you going to arrest the lawyer too because he was with the guy that had the pot?
Snowden is no more a lawyer than you. Attorney Client privilege sitting in a parked car at night smoking weed? Jeez I sometime wonder if you realize how absurd your posts are.

Are you trying to tell me that SAG Gansler appointed someone who is not a civil rights attorney the first director of the SAG's civil rights division?

Also there is no evidence that he was smoking. Constructive possession at best.

Gansler is so dedicated to civil rights his office of civil rights is a toothless tiger because the director is a token that can't walk into a courtroom to do crap about anything. Way to go Dougie boy.

Maybe I should see if Gansler will appoint me director of marijuana policy? After 71 years I think I know more about marijuana than Snowden knows about being black.

Sorry Carl.......and anyone else offended by that remark. I know I'm going to hell for that one.

No wonder people like the Werdesheims don't get charged with hate crimes or civil rights violations on the Streets Theory. The SAG's Director of Civil Right can't go into a courtroom to charge anyone with anything.

You would think that the best candidate for that office would be a Lawyer that regardless of their race, religion, sex or sexual identity has a great track record on winning civil rights cases. But I'm just crazy like that.

Well isn't that just what our budget woes need. More patronage positions. Here's a real "doomsday budget" proposal. Because it will have everyone in Annapolis chitting bricks. Find every patronage position in the government and fire those people immediately if not sooner. Then outlaw patronage positions. If you are going to collect a paycheck from the State of Maryland. You actually have to do something more than deliver votes.

Gansler thought he would make his bones with this appointment as far as running for Governor, which he has been doing since elected AG. It backfired on him with this creep. Wizard just cannot seem to comprehend that fact. Gansler is just O'Malley light. He could have appointed a white person who is a lawyer to this position who is qualified and still gotten between 85 and 90% of the AA vote come election time.

I know Gansler is an O'Malley wanna be. I am wholely and entirely unimpressed with Gansler. He may be a Blue Dog Democrat? But the bad thing about that is Blue Dog Democrat's are perceived by other Democrats as being Republicans or worse DINO's. Gansler appears to think he has to impress the conservatives like the Republicans do. He comes across as a ban it first and ask questions later conservative. Maryland is a progressive to liberal state.

As far as Snowden goes. Even if he was there smoking pot. Who cares? That doesn't bother me one bit. I'm more disturbed by the director of the office of Civil Rights not being a lawyer. Snowden needs to be smoking pot while he's in college working on a law degree so he can enforce those civil rights in court. At least be able to supervise the lawyers enforcing civil right. We can get to civil rights being more of a matter of federal law than state law later.

    Snowden resigns

Annapolis civil rights activist Carl O. Snowden resigned his post in the Maryland attorney general's office on Friday, one month after his conviction on a marijuana possession charge and following an eight-month absence from the job.

Snowden, 59, declined to discuss his resignation, which he called a retirement effective Jan. 8. He said in an email that he would announce his political plans Jan. 18 during a Martin Luther King Jr. awards banquet he founded 25 years ago. The dinner, his stint on the Annapolis City Council and his role as a community organizer and government official made Snowden a prominent yet controversial figure in local politics for more than three decades.
He has political plans? Maybe he can run for Don Dwyer's seat.

What did the people in Anne Arundel County do to deserve that?

It should be, but it isn't. It's one of the reasons that I think Gansler is a joke. I wonder which office Snowden will run for in the future?
