    Default Va. couple accidentally shot....

    .....at gun safety class!

ROANOKE, Va. - A Roanoke, Va., man and his wife were recovering after he accidentally shot himself and her during a firearms safety class. The Bedford County Sheriff's Office tells media outlets that Michael L. Deel shot himself in the hand with a .45-caliber handgun. The bullet also struck his wife, Michelle, in the leg as she was sitting beside him.

The incident occurred Saturday during a firearms safety class at a residence. The instructor, Thomas Starke, told police he'd left the room and then heard a shot. The Deels were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Michael Deel says the shooting was a "stupid accident."

    Here's your sign!

makes me think of a couple ex-posters.

The funny thing is that he will still get his gun permit even though shooting someone in class should get you a big "F" and a permit denial.

Reads like its on the instructer for leaving the room where his so called "students" had access to a loaded firearm.

Looks like a easy liability case for some ambulance chaser.

You would think but since when does common sense ever come into play when laws, rules and regulation are involved when it comes to guns in America ?

    More Silly Buggers.

Don't forget "A firearm is just a tool. People are injured by tools every day."

I'm not so sure I agree with that sentiment. I mean they are in the class for a reason. The real takeaway should be one of the biggest lessons any responsible gun owner can learn... don't leave a loaded gun someplace where someone who doesn't know how to use it can get access to it. This actually turns out to be a very powerful lesson that most folks only learn when one of their kids, or their kids' friends ends up dead.
