I think he stated it in a way where he can claim and it would be more believable that he simply wanted more Americans working jobs in America, but I still have no doubt what he actually believes is that there should be blacks working jobs in DC that Asians are working. But he can deny it.

If a high profile republican said something should be done about illega aliens, liberals would come out saying he's racist, xenophobic, and anti immigration, despite referring to ILLEGAL aliens. Marion Barry talks about LEGAL immigrants, people that have a right to be here because they took a legal route to come here, and SILENCE from the libs. Storry get buried in the local media. No shrieking about anti immigration, xenophobia, etc.

Then maybe more of Mr. Barry’s constitutes should get bachelor’s or master’s degrees in nursing and then there would not be so many Filipina nurses (keep in mind that some of those Filipina nurses are American citizens and are not taking jobs from Americans since they are Americans and that Mr. Barry may be guilty of racial profiling here, at least in some cases) who meet those requirements to do those jobs.

The Phillipines ambassador has condemned the comment. Normally this would make for national and international headlines, when an Ambassador chimes it, but it will remain a local story, buried in local news, because only whites can be racist.
