Forgive me for misunderstanding your question. I obviously was not paying attention by assuming this was it?
"perhaps someone can help me understand how a 1-4 record this season, is an indication that the O's have turned the table on a team that has owned them the past few years.
if this is progress, I don't see it."
If in fact this was your question, and you are still just playing games, then I respectfully suggest that I answered, rather well!![]()
nope you didn't answer the question. you offered a list of things you like about the O's season so far. and you've attempted to derail the conversation into a recap of some preseason comments I made. now you're attempting to project your obstinacy onto me. all I did was ask the board a question. I'm not sure why you are so intent on starting an argument with me.
The timing of threads like these make me laugh a bit.
Yanks score 1 run in last 23 innings vs the Orioles! LOL to the OP.
Go O's!
TM
Make that 1 run in last 24 innings vs this trash and garbage Oriole team.
TM
A pitching gem and now 6 games without an error!![]()
Orioles on pace for 104 wins!
Um...yea...we are better.
TM
From ESPN.com
"With Arrieta's effort, the Orioles held the Yankees to two runs or fewer in three straight games in the Bronx for the first time since 1978, when Don Stanhouse joined Palmer and Flanagan in accomplishing the feat."
I love this thread!
TM
The thread title is "Are We Better", the answer is, 'yes we are'!
Your question was:
"perhaps someone can help me understand how a 1-4 record this season, is an indication that the O's have turned the table on a team that has owned them the past few years.
if this is progress, I don't see it."
My answer to you was:
"The 15 and 9 Orioles are playing the 13-10 Yankees in Yankee Stadium carrying the same away record as the Yankees have recorded at home this year and last night they blew the Yankees away in a 7-1 defeat and could easily have beaten the Yankees the previous night in a 2-1 loss. Yes the Yankees hold a 4-1 lead on the season over the O's but the O's were not out of any of those games with a couple of games going to extra innings.
Joe Girardi in an interview yesterday said that he thought that the Orioles may well prove to be the American League team to beat this year even though acknowledging that we are currently trailing the Rays by a game. He didn't have to say that and even if it was said for the benefit of his own players it is still a very different tone than has been used to describe the O's in a long time".
As for knowing what last nights score would be 'before' the game, of course I didn't, but based on the way that the O's have been playing and my answer I gave to your question above, I predicted on the game thread, 'before the game started' (you can go back and check) that I expected the O's to win 5-2, I gave the Yankees credit for 2 runs because with their hitting lineup, I did not expect us to blank them out.
The fact that in your own words you said "if this is progress, I don't see it." seems to me, to be a problem that you are having, and as I said in my last post, reading my post to you and watching last nights game and the two previous games in New York, should go a long way towards answering your question for you. This is not rocket science weirdo-O.![]()
Oh, I get it now. the summation of your answer is: the O's have tried real hard as they've continued the trend of maintaining a losing record against the Yankees.
yeah... that's not progress. sorry, only feel good little league coaches give out awards for trying your best. at the MLB level, winning is the yardstick by which improvement/progress is measured.
if you prefer, I can break down your post section by section and show how this isn't a legitimate answer.
After that three-game series, New York is 43-18 against the Orioles since 2009, & the O's have won one out of the last 14 series.
The future is bright!
Seeing that this is about the O's and the Yankee's and this came from the Yankee's manager, I considered it pretty high praise! But you may be right, what else is the Yankee Manager going to say when he has just been handed his arse on a plate in two straight games in Yankee stadium?![]()
