    Default Andino

I have to give credit where it is due--the guy has made himself into a pretty solid major leaguer. Plays good defense at second base, has turned into a good clutch hitter, and his bat is a real luxury to have at the nine spot in the order. If only he learned how to bunt and where his cap properly, we might have a fairly complete player.

If Roberts ever makes it back, I certainly hope that he is automatically awarded the job at second. Andino has more than earned it.

I think you mean you hope Roberts isn't automatically awarded the job at second base. FWIW, I don't remember Roberts being especially adept at bunting.

Oops, thanks for picking that typo.

And you are correct about my one pet peeve with Roberts over the years--his inability and/or unwillingness to bunt. It makes absolutely zero sense for a prototypical lead off hitter not to force the third baseman's hand by respecting the bunt.

The guy's hitting .340 with a .390 OBP and you want him to bunt better? Now I know he's not going to hit .340 all season but if he can hit around .285 with a ~.340 OBP then he can forget about bunting other than very specific situations.

Believe me, I love what Andino has been doing, from all the points noted earlier. Hell, he might just be the best nine post hitter in baseball at this stage. All that said, his bunting (specifically sacrafice bunting) has been poor.

Bob Dino is awesome. One of my favorite players.

And I'm saying that I don't care about his bunting unless he returns to being a .220 hitter. As it stands now, he should not be bunting at all no way no how.
