    Default Nine Oriole no-hitters?

This past Friday (5/4/12), the Sunpapers recognized Jered Weaver's no-hitter by listing "no-hit" blurbs with the MLB standings.
How did they come up with "nine no-hitters" for the Baltimore Orioles? The Orioles have had three classic no-hitters and two where more than one pitcher combined for a no-hitter.
Shame on the person who wrote this copy. They added the four no-hitters compiled by the St. Louis Browns to the five thrown by the Baltimore Orioles. Orioles fans have no identity whatsoever with the hapless St. Louis Browns. Heck, there were only nine players who played for the 1953 Browns and the 1954 Orioles.
I'm OK with leaving the Browns history in St. Looey just like we did with that other Browns team that moved to Baltimore.

We wore them as throw backs recently, and for quite a while lots of people included them in our franchise records. Its not unprecedented. I have baseball cards from the 60s that refer to the "Browns/Orioles" single season records.

But on this subject, I think we should claim the national league Orioles records and hang pennant for their championships. It would be neat. A throw back night with 1880's Orioles jersey would be spectacular.

I used to drive to the 1880's O's games or watch them on my HDTV when I couldn't get to the stadium. They were an inspiration for the many successes that I've enjoyed in life (with many more to come).
