Default Howard Dean: Women, Latinos "terrified" of GOP

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-3460_162...rified-of-gop/
(CBS News) Former Vermont Governor Howard Dean said Sunday that the policies promoted by the Republican Party have women and Latinos "terrified."

"Women are terrified of what the Republicans are talking about. They're talking about basically stripping away their ability to have insurance pay for their birth control pills," Dean said on "Face the Nation." "Latinos are terrified of the Republicans, because they seem to have a total tin ear when it comes to the basic needs of treating people with dignity.

    ...

Dean also suggested that "the average American thinks that Mitt Romney doesn't care about them. Here's a guy who's building, during a campaign, a mansion in Malibu with an elevator for his car," Dean said to Bob Schieffer. "He had a Swiss bank account and he invests in the Cayman Islands. I don't think we've ever elected a president who has invested in the Cayman Islands as a tax dodge before.

Are you terrified of your party, Calamari?

Also, I thought the issue was whether insurance companies should be required to pay for birth control, not whether they should be prohibited for paying for birth control as the quote seems to imply.

    I don’t know…

The last “Latino” I talked to didn’t seem all that terrified, only confused. He gave me a queer sort of look when I asked him what part of Latium he came from. So I asked the same in his native tongue, which I had studied in school a long time ago. “Qua in Latium es vos ex?” It didn’t help at all; maybe my grammer was rusty after all these years, but he still gave me funny looks and muttered some stuff in what sounded to me like Spanish, not the language of Cicero.

    Go figure.

No matter, he wasn’t scared at all, and me being one of the most notorious of the 14 Republicans still living in this town. Anyway, I just once would like to encounter a Latin-speaking “Latino” who knows how to find Latium on a map. l
