Default What do you make of Romney's bullying incident in high school?

    Here's the story.
John Lauber, a soft-spoken new student one year behind Romney, was perpetually teased for his nonconformity and presumed homosexuality. Now he was walking around the all-boys school with bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye, and Romney wasn’t having it.
    ...
A few days later, Friedemann entered Stevens Hall off the school’s collegiate quad to find Romney marching out of his own room ahead of a prep school posse shouting about their plan to cut Lauber’s hair. Friedemann followed them to a nearby room where they came upon Lauber, tackled him and pinned him to the ground. As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors. The incident was recalled similarly by five students, who gave their accounts independently of one another.
    ...
Romney is now the presumed Republican presidential nominee. In a radio interview Thursday morning, Romney said he didn’t remember the incident but apologized for pranks he helped orchestrate that he said “might have gone too far.” His campaign spokeswoman, Andrea Saul, said in a statement that “anyone who knows Mitt Romney knows that he doesn’t have a mean-spirited bone in his body. The stories of fifty years ago seem exaggerated and off base and Governor Romney has no memory of participating in these incidents.”
I'm about the same age as Romney. I clearly remember the bullies in my class doing such things. And I'd certainly remember if I were the one leading the bullying!

Does Obama remember the illegal drugs he used when he was a minor?

Kinda odd that certain drugs he used would permanently disqualify him from certain positions like with law enforcement or top sercret security clearances..

Yes; he made note of it in his autobiography.

You're fantasizing again. Show us a link regarding disqualification because of admitted teenage drug use.

see, this is why i'll never run for president. when my gf & i were 9, we stole some twizzlers from 7-11.. and got caught. we got in soooooo much trouble & never did anything like that again. this is a true story. so somebody will dig this up & be like, oh don't vote for her, ya know.. like once a thief, always a thief. so i'm not running.

Just mention it in your autobiography, like Obama did, and it'll be cool (except for the haters who will mention it obsessively).

Boys will be boys if this incident is even true. But Obama snorted cocaine and that's a fact.

This topic isn't about Obama and that's a fact.

I agree, boys will be boys and in particular boys will do some incredibly stupid stuff. However, men should be men and own up to it and not play the "I don't rembmer" card.

And the reason you know is because he freely admitted it.

Who was harmed by teenage Obama snorting coke?

Nothce the words "may include". Ever had a security clearance? I have, and an extremely high level one and I can tell you for a fact that for the most part teenage drug use is rarely used as a disqualifying event in those situations. Not hardly the difinitive thing you made it out to be is it?

    Yes I have had one.

I know people who work in the FBI, and it's a complete disqualifier if you've ever used cocaine.

Good luck to those agencies in finding non-liars who will state they've never taken a drug illegally.

    Jesus, he cut his hair?

    Are you serious?

My kid was bullied in HS in 2004 but he was beat with a belt for not giving up his money.

I remember bullies in HS and none of them were barbers.

    This is stupid.

    Isn't cutting hair gay itself?

The Army will disqualify you from a TS clearance if you've used illegal drugs other than pot. And cocaine use is a felony. That disqualifies you from most jobs requiring a security clearance.

I'll take the nice pothead over the bully, thank you. Bullies never prosper.
