Who said Gilman was going to fall way off? Fall off? No. However, Cyrus' shoes are going to be IMPOSSIBLE to fill. The transfer is a fine talent in his own right with a ton of potential. He should help in the defensive backfield, and could very well have a break out season. He will be surrounded by much more talent on defense this season at Gilman than last season at G'Town Prep. Playing with 5 or 6 D1 caliber starters on defense enables a player to take chances they might not otherwise take when there is less margin for error. Yes, Gilman is oozing with talent on both sides of the ball. However, by no means can you expect him (or anyone else) to fill the shoes of a once in a lifetime player who single handily won lead his team to victory in the MIAA Championship game. Not only is your over the top hype fair to the young man, you have have a double standard when it comes to projecting new starters depending on which school they attend.

I also think Gilman will not be as deep this season, especially if a handful of the vaunted freshmen do indeed make the varsity team in August.
He is about 5'9 1/2 and pushing 175-180 range. He might be just as tall as his dad, and bigger when its all said and done. But, the lil' brother will be The Beast in the family !!

I heard the biggest problem Harris of Douglass had or has is that he wanted or wants to only do WR work but Douglass insisted he play safety also. It's offense, defense, and special teams at PGCo schools and that happens with the better talents in the premiere private programs. Is that correct of mistated?
I agree with everything that Sky is saying except the DM comment. They are absolutely LOADED with new talent. They have 2 of the Top 5 players in the state in the Class of 2016 in Shane Simmons and Tino Ellis.

Because DM has so many kids on their football teams that freshmen rarely make Varsity, these two kids should make it. Especially Ellis. Simmons was considered a top 2 recruit with Gilman's Ellison but word is he kind of got exposed against older comp in combines and looks like he might need to get a little stronger. So DM might decide to keep him off of Varsity. But Ellis is more than holding his own!

No school in the state has the numbers like DM and they have a wealth of blue chippers. Now keeping them there is another subject.

And the little brother will also be at Gilman in the 8th grade. Everything I have heard about him is that he is a complete monster! Best 8th prospect in the DMV and one of the best in the country.

But it appears that the CB Monroe transfered halfway through his junior year at DeMatha, immediately after the Christmas break and he will be with Douglass only for his senior season. That's a very late transfer to me. But he would have gone to DeMatha the same year Harris started there but Harris left last year. So maybe he saw Harris getting so much attention and decided he would be better off at his home school; that is, football better off. Someone best close the DeMatha barn door before it's too late.
i think it's a bit of an overstatement about DM's barn door being open for transfers...they have always had quite a few transfers...the months prior to bill's resignation saw high profile kids like levenberry and mcphearson transfer and the months after bill's resignation saw other kids like cokerrille and harris(as well as some other kids not well known but would have been contributors)...many of those were directly related to bills leaving and had nothing to do with brooks...as for paul, he was on varsity as a soph. but was injured and played very little (if at all)...truth be told, had he been healthy he probably wouldn't have seen the ball much that yr...i bet 85% of the passes that went to WR's that yr. went to ryan burbrink(great kid and great receiver making much noise durring bowling greens spring practices btw)...the former OC imo..did very little to get other wr's envolved although both (mcphearson and jesstin hamm) were college level talents...(hamm played as a true freshman at D2 Gannon U. but couldn't get the ball thrown to him at DM)....brooks has had and will have transfers...but it's really not some kind of a mass exodus...
