"Not only did he kidnap but apparently sexually abused him. The father was having none of that! (Shocking)"

    Background

Leon “Gary” Plauché, (39, in 1984), was Jody’s father and good friends with certain high-ranking police officers in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Police Department, which is how he learned exactly when Jeffrey Doucet would be arriving at Ryan Airport.

On Friday, March 16th, 1984, at around 9:30 PM, Central Time, as Jeffrey Doucet was being led in handcuffs by police officers through the airport, they walked past a bank of pay telephones, while a local TV station news crew was videotaping.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Leon “Gary” Plauché was pretending to use one of those phones when Jeffrey Doucet walked past with his police escorts. As the videotape camera recorded, Leon “Gary” Plauché leveled a firearm at Doucet’s head, firing once and scoring a direct hit, killing him almost instantly, at the airport. (Some reports said that so perfectly-aimed was the shot, that “Doucet was dead, before he fell down.”)
    He got five years probation.

This happened in 1984. Any particular reason for posting it now?

Really why post it now 28 yrs later? I love seeing it because it makes me feel good but on reflection it was also a sad thing.

He deserves to still be in jail.
And any police officer that provided in with info should've been charged with conspiracy to the murder.

I recall that the guy was a pretty good shot. The alleged molester was dead before he hit the ground. At least he didn't suffer.

It's not really National News 28 years later.

Maybe it should just be deleted then. Just a thought, not direction.

    EmDot--

Yes, I was debating whether to delete or keep, but I didn't think it belonged on Nationals. It does lend itself to conversation, though.

Anyway, this is street justice. Not in the heat of the moment, but a premeditated killing of someone in police custody.

There's plenty of street justice here in Baltimore, which leads to a general sense of lawlessness. How many of the murders here are in retaliation for some real of imagined offense? If we decry the violence here, I don't think we can excuse this.

5 yrs probation. Not bad. Glad he didn't miss and hit some innocent bystander.

It is so silly that it would enter your mind to delete.

    Stick to the TOS.

Five years probation seems about right.

    That was really excessive....

...I would think 1 1/2 years of probation would have been plenty

And what if that guy he shot happened to be your friend that just happened to get arrested at the airport at the time and was a case of mistaken identity?
Or if it was your Brother that was falsely accused ?
Or perhaps your Father who was one of the arresting Officer, or your Daughter who happened to be an innocent bystander that was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and happened to get shot accidently ?
Would 18 months be plenty for their deaths?

If any of those "IF" things were true, then it would have been tragic, but there was no evidence of mistaken identity. My only objection is that the death of the guilty was painless.
