Default Chris Matthews Bombs on 'Jeopardy!' After Repeatedly Mocking Palin for How She'd Do

Liberal Democrat Chris Matthews Bombs on 'Jeopardy!' After Repeatedly Mocking Palin for How She'd Do

On at least four occasions, MSNBC's Chris Matthews mocked Sarah Palin for how he felt she'd do if she were ever on the hit television game show Jeopardy!

In a delicious example of instant karma, the self-proclaimed brainiac got his chance to show America how smart he was in a special "Power Players" version of the show Monday, but came up quite short finishing dead last with the paltry sum of only $2,300 (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary)
Reminds me of another 'Know It All' Lib Dem, Wolf Blitzer:

I know that Matthews bombed on Jeopardy, but this doesn't somehow invalidate his Palin remarks... well except for the fact that he should have used a show other than Jeopardy in his remarks cause that show is tough even for the smartest folks. But come on, Palin was overwhelemed with "What magazines to you read?" REALLY?

Sure it invalidates his remarks. He was the one that criticized her so he needed to make sure he was above bombing on Jeopardy. Chris Mathews has egg on his face now.

If you and others want to make remarks then go ahead. I probably won't agree. Just don't say something where you can wind up with egg on your face.

I have to agree that it's probably a lot easier to watch jeopardy and do well than it is to play it. The buzzing in process is complicated. You can know the answer and still not be the first to ring in..

Indeed. Saying Chris Matthews scored lower than his competitors on Jeopardy hardly makes notoriously dumb-as-a-ham-sandwich Sarah Palin any smarter.

What I mean is that it doesn't invalidate the spirit of the remarks, which is that Palin just isn't the sharptest tool in the shed. That being said, holding Jeopardy up as the standard by which to judge that is pretty foolish because that's just a damn tough show

Whether it invalidates his comments is besides the point. Perhaps Mr. Matthews should take heed of throwing stones in glass houses. But I predict that he won't, and continue to look like a fool on a daily basis.

It's a piece of cake compared to how it was back in the day. Everybody that played it had to be a PhD. They dumbed it down considerably for the public school crowd sometime in the 80s. Now you don't need an education or a degree of literacy to do well, you just have to keep up with current events and celebrity news. Nobody expects you to know Shakespeare’s plays, recognize of line from Butler’s translation of the Iliad, or quote T.S. Eliot. You might have to know how many times Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft in the movies but no one will expect you to know Newton’s Law of Motion or yell out “What is Pythagorean theorem?” But then again, if you don’t keep up with Hollywood happenings, sports, and the pop culture scene, you might be in trouble.

Anderson Cooper crashed and burned as well. News people don't do Jeopardy very well.

I'm guessing you don't watch the show all that much then because your characterization is way off base.

I think sometimes Chris' mouth engages before his brain, which is also the problem Palin sometimes has.
To retaliate in kind would do nothing but intensify the existence of hate in the universe. Along the way of life, someone must have sense enough, and morality enough, to cut off the chain of hate. ~~ MLK

That's because most news people are very news focused, and usually very current events focused and further still usually focused on the area on which they report. They usually aren't the egghead types that know a little bit about a whole lot of different things and/or have expert knowledge in several different areas.
