I believe he played DL vs MSJ, McDonogh in the playoffs, vs Gilman in the Championship game and in the Turkey bowl. Aaron tried to give it a go in the Championship game, but his injured ankle clearly made him a liability. Gilman seized the opportunity when he was in the game and they ran right at the injured DL. Mackell was pulled and Cole's presence made a world of difference, as he more than held his own for the rest of the game vs Gilman's much larger OL. He is a very underrated, flexible player who should be one of the anchors on this year's defense. Cole should thrive at FB, but his presence will be felt the most on defense at a myriad of positions. He can play DE, DT, OLB and ILB.
I think Cole has a lot of heart, He is not a LB, could be a NG but it is not the (I want position) Should of been on the line the whole year,I would much rather have Kehne play fullback, Cole is not a full back even though coaches would argue the point. He would be an outstanding Guard or Center.(would not be a popular position either) LB=FB NG+C or G. There was a reason why GC had him at NG.

Yeah, unfortunately CHC lost a couple of would be returning defensive starters as well. That's life at Calvert Hall and I assume every other school in the MIAA A. Some other ambitious schools in the B and C are a little different, but that is another story. The rules apply to everyone at CHC, and the asst principal for student affairs is not a fan of sports, to say the least.

Ya that's life when your dealing with young kids. I see what I thought was going to be a future Card going is a Bear. Could be a pretty good offense over their in kings contrivance if Jones can stay on the field.

Hammond? You talking about Mason, the WR? I thought he was going to Good Counsel.

The Poets will be jacked and ready to go since this is so important for the program moving forward. The Halls history is already set and this is just another game against a "private school". The Cards will still have a tough schedule ahead. Dunbar will play no one the rest of the way. They may lose a game here or there but they will win it all when the time comes.

He was stellar at NG. I was very impressed. I have a feeling that's where he will be needed, especially early in the season. Smith will probably start at DE from day 1. DL Spencer Tuvseon is a hard working, blue collar type of player with deceptive strength. He has been one of the vocal leaders in organizing his teammates in getting better this off season. Spencer will most likely start or at least be in the rotation. Is Romel ready to step up and earn some PT?

The OL is shaping up rather well. I think it should be better this year, but who knows exactly how it will pan out. Hopefully, Cole will not be needed on the OL, but he could be a very good option at Center. I like that idea if it comes down to it. He is a tough, hard nosed football player, period. I really liked how D'Angelo played at OT in the Championship game filling in for JP. He is a lacrosse player, but he has the frame (6'3), footwork and hands to excel at OT. Jack is not very heavy (220), but he could easily add a few lbs if need be. He more than held his own vs one of the top players in the nation from the class of '14 (Kiehn) and the best DL in the state on a big stage, under the bright lights, with everything on the line in the MIAA Championship game. Trevor Beam has the potential to be a monster inside at guard, opposite Manochech, who is a returning starter. If things start clicking for him and he is willing to put in the work, Trevor will be a force to reckon with, and he could be a very good Guard or OT. He played at 6'4 275 as a soph. last season and he can really get around. Trevor is another lineman who grew also up playing lacrosse his whole life (including freshman season) until this spring. He possesses a nastiness on the field that can't be coached. He played DT his freshman year and he could do so this year if need be. The last lineman I'll touch on for now is McManus. Another big man (6'5, 280) who played grew up lacrosse. He has always had the frame and smarts, but he has really stepped up and put in a ton of work in the off season. Like many CHC football players, JP just finished up his first spring track season.

92 Card you had a good line last year looking at the film, but it was the Coaching I guess that caused the problems. CHC OL did not stay tight, they created their own problems. The really big kid had no business seperating him self so far from the Center or Tackle. He had little to no lateral movement. He was beat constantly by spead in the wide gaps. Your line needs to make sure you keep the gaps small and stay tight. Jam it up in the middle and make the end go around. By that time the ball is gone and your QB has a pcket. Last year, and go back to the film and take a look at your pass blocking. When the guys stepped back they created gapping wholes which good defenses exploted. Keep it tight, and those kids will be just fine.

Personally, I perfer a mobile lineman vs. a fat one with no leteral movement. I can put a kid 135lbs on the line with good technique and feet and he can hold his own in a tight system.

This is a tough game to pick. IT appears that the Hall is back but Dunbar is always loaded. I see a shoot out with the final 34-26 CHS.

Without seeing Dunbar or CHC in a scrimmage I can only base a early score prediction on the returning rosters. CHC seems to have more returning letter winners than Dunbar. Both teams will promote talent from their exceptional JV teams. I have CHC 31 Dunbar 22.

Sounds about right but I don't think Dunbar scores over 20. CHC talent and coaching prevail.

It's been a long time since Dunbar has been an underdog in a game. I think CHC is the better team by 2 TDs with all things being considered, including coaching and special teams.

I think besides the usual factors there are some things that may be overlooked that will determine the outcome of the game. One is that CHC plays a real game the week before the CHC-Dunbar game. It is just a down MD Christian team, but it is a chance to work out kinks, early season jitters, and to break in a new starting QB in a live game environment. Another is the kicking games (or lack thereof). Dunbar always goes for 2 but CHC's defense is too well coached to allow Dunbar to score 2 pointers at will. I'd say that Dunbar will only get 1/3 of 2 pt attempts, whereas CHC converts 3/3 extra points. CHC also has a FG kick as an option. That being said, Dunbar will be fired up to be playing in their new stadium for the first time and will come out hyped up and hit CHC in the mouth. Taking this into consideration, I would make CHC an 8 point favorite if I was a betting man, and may drop that to 4 pts by the time the game comes around.

28-20 CHC would be my prediction.

Dunbar has always had this us against the world mentality. I don't know why but this semi-inferiority complex seems misplaced with Dunbar's successes over the years. I believe this game scares the Dunbar faithful a liitle more than you are willing to admit. It seems that some Dunbar fans believe that winning is a birthright. It might be so in the city's Division I but CHC isn't Carver or Sourhwestern. It's no wonder that Coach Smith was pulling so hard to have the game at Dunbar. He needs all the help he can get. Too bad the game will likely be held at Towson U.

Default Players of Note Lost to Graduation

    Calvert Hall:

Thomas Stuart QB-Butte JC, CJ Williams RB/LB-Navy, Daquan Davis DB-Penn State?, Trevor Williams WR-Penn State?, Brandon Neverdon RB-Unknown, Emmanuel Holder DL/TE-Towson, Will Johnson DB-Unknown

    Dunbar:

Lavar Highsmith RB/LB-Unknown, Deontay McManus ATH-Unknown, Charles Brown FB/LB-Shepherd (WV), Kevin Estep QB-SFA, Aaron Haynes WR/DB-Unknown, Joshua Davis OL/DL-Unknown, Michael Carter OL/DL-Unknown, Ernest Hawkins TE/LB-Unknown, Terrence Williams DB/WR

It's a tossup on who lost more. CHC has some bonafide JV & FS players ready to make the jump to varsity. Dunbar has a powerful JV team too but Meth and some of the Dunbar faithful will have to enlighten us about the more promising call-ups.

Next, I'll look at the players of note returning in 2012.

    Default Top Returning Players

    Calvert Hall:

Garrett Keene SR RB, Delando Johnson SR LB/WR, Kyle Levere SR WR/S, Stephen Kelly SR RB/DB, Garrett Epple SR LB, JP McManus SR OL, Erik Evans JR TE, Trevor Beam JR OL, Mike Manocheh SR OL, Logan Kurek SR WR

    Dunbar:

Leland Lassiter SR DB/WR, Marvin Gross Jr SR DE/TE, William Crest JR QB, Paki Brown SR RB/DB, Wilbur Young Jr SR WR/DB, Jaquan Holt SR RB/DB, Malik Jones SR DE/OL, Coleman Blackston JR RB/S, Dariz Hill SR OL/DL

Both teams have a number of high impact returning players. Dunbar has more returning skill players and CHC has more lineman who got substantial playing time last season.
