Of course I do. Maybe there should be more black owned businesses in Baltimore. But I'm merely pointing out that a lot of people choose not to own a business for good reasons. I choose not own a business or be part of my inlaw's business, so I would not ask why blacks don't own more businesses. It would seem a bit hypocritical to me.

There are many dynamics on why Blacks should own their own businesses.

why should you get a means of income after you rent an apt? why should you or anybody grow food? The reasons are simple. To live in a group, some things are required for the functionality of the group at the expense of the individual. If I was the only person on the planet, I would take what I needed since whatever I took could not belong to anyone else. But since I live among people, I have to modify my conduct. I should do some things and not do other things. It is said that one of the wonders of human intelligence is our ability to be aware of self and to be aware of "us. And, to be able to (thru considerable cerebral effort) juxtapose the two. Some don't or won't.

Some people care not for the "entity" that they are a part of. Those people simple want to live for today. Unwilling to commit to any "hi-level" thinking about things. For other people, like the Irish, the Germans, the Italians, the Jew, the idea of self and the self's role in shaping the "Us" is integrated into their being. Too Black folks do not have a sense of "Us". Only of "Me".

You will be at a beach in the islands, I will be stuck in traffic going thru the harbor tunnel. I hate you Ken.

Kidding, I get mine for a week in July. Be sure to maximize your time off and notice every moment.

    Default My grandfather..

    Ken,

My grandfather is from the Bahamas by way of Brooklyn, NY. He would always say negroes in Baltimore don't know how to spend their "hard-earned" capital within their own communities. But, the West Indians do!!

My first real vacation in about 6 years my friend. It's funny everyone I know is giving me advice about what to do and what to see. 99% of that time I'll be seeing a beach chair, sand and water

The last time I went to the Bahamas was the early 80's so I can't offer any advice other than enjoy yourself.

    Investment firms don't count
