    Default Hector prediction status thread

Some of you might not be aware that Hector came up with this prediction of 95 wins this year correctly called a guess while playing darts with some valuable clients in San Salvador. His Bullseye (50) double twenty and a single 5 came after he jokingly stated whatever I hit with these three darts will be how many wins the Orioles get this year....and the rest is history yet his clients understood no English to verify.

with a 28-16 record after tonights 4-1 victory over the hacks from beantown the orioles are on a pace for 103 wins

    Hector is PLUS 8

Thanks for setting up the Hector prediction monitoring thread. I appreciate it. However in the interest of accuracy, let me correct the basis for my brilliant prediction that the O's would win 95 games in 2012.

This past March, I was driving north through Baltimore on my way to my second home at Caesar's Palace and I was thinking about the O's prospects for 2012. I quickly and brilliantly deduced that the Red Sox and Yankees would flop this year and that Tampa would continue to plod along with great pitching and no hitting. As for Toronto, they're average and nothing much was likely to change there. In that brilliant 1 minute mental analysis, I knew the path was clear for the O's to soar. I then looked at the highway marker and saw the number "95" in red, white and blue and thus my prediction was assured. The color scheme of the highway marker was also significant given my historical connection to Baltimore, Francis, and the National Anthem.

Also, I have no clients in San Salvador but do have some in Brazil and Columbia.

Finally, I'll be traveling on business to New Zealand between May 25th and May 30th and won't be able to post very often during that period. I would like to request that you keep this Hector Prediction thread current during my absence. It will serve as an inspiration to several of our fellow posters. Thanks.

I'm starting to think my prediction in March of 95 wins was a bit pessimistic. Do you think I should consider an upward revision? Generally speaking, I don't like the idea of a mulligan since it would be an admission that the original prediction was a tad flawed.

Im not sure that is a good idea as you are not a jock (Spelling bee Champ) and im not sure you could duplicate 95 on the dart board again.

at least let me respect you for one thing...dont go changing

With the loss yesterday, the O's are now on pace for 101 wins, 6 more than I so brilliantly predicted this past March.

Buck threw away the game yesterday against the Red Sox by resting Hardy against a fast ball pitcher and I assume he'll blow a few more games the rest of the year with foolish decisions. On that basis, 95 is still the most precise prediction for 2012. Absent the foolishness from Buck, they'd probably win 105 games. I factored Buck into my 95 prediction so there are no surprises for me this season.

Might want to think about lowering that prediction by a game or two or 25.

Hi Hector....Sorry about the lack of activity but I just drove back from the future in my DeLorean. Seems I was the only one with the skill set to rig the Maya Calender ahead just enough so you will be able to concentrate on this thread and not worrying about your considerable client base!

    Your Welcome

Sorry to say the Os are on a 92.57 pace below your guess

Welcome back - hope you had a good trip. The O's had a tough stretch in your absence and 95 is looking more certain than ever. They hit bottom in the past couple weeks and thank goodness the Red Sox quitters have come to the rescue.

The mighty O's have won 57% of their games to date including the bad stretch and only need to win 59% of the rest to hit the all but certain 95. That should be easy as more and more teams toss in the towel for this year as we get into July, August and September. The Red Sox have already quit (as I predicted in March) and others will follow.

I hate to get all numbary on you but they are not even at this moment over 59%...so they wouldnt "only need" as you put it they would have to improve to

    Your welcome as always

You're very polite and were obviously well trained. The english needs a bit of work though. When you're saying you're welcome, don't spell it "your."

    You're welcome.

"You,re" Originated in Seattle Washington by a 5 year old who was using his fathers typewriter in 1951 and only spelled that one word....This child was the one and only Steven Spielberg and his father who was the CEO of The New York Times had no one with stones to correct his mistake so many Americans have adopted this incorrect spelling and seemed to have invented a new word.

Glad I could clear it up for you

“You're” is always a contraction of “you are.” If you've written “you're,” try
substituting “you are.” If it doesn't work, the word you want is “your.”
