This is what I initially thought about the whole thing. Not sure hes convinced we're more likely than Texas to go all the way.

according to folks who are close to the negotiations, TX will sign him w/i a week. his motivation to come back is to get a ring. the short list of team he's considering are all contenders. Baltimore is on that list, but TX holds all the cards. they give him the best shot at a ring. he won't sign for peanuts, but money isn't really a factor with him. he loved his time in Houston, so that's another advantage forthe rangers.
