Not bad, ultimately still weak, but you could get better if you work really hard.

Yep Phin, I'm quite aware that as a Conservative in MD I'm politically impotent so when the rare opportunity comes that I might be able to stick it to 'The Man'.....well, you betcha.

Maybe that's why conservatives have such problems -- too busy sticking it to someone to help make a real difference.

It does explain why there's such a prevalence of "Gotcha" and attempted Gotcha on these boards.

Just curious, do any parents on this forum hope their son or daughter is gay?

I also buy big ticket items out of state and have an EZPass from New York to avoid the monthly fees MD imposes (Don't use it enough for Commuter Plan). I'm sure as far as you're concerned if MD could get rid of the people like me in the State it would be Utopia.

Gee, thanks. In a moment of weakness I toyed with the notion that there wasn't anyone petty enough to go to such lengths to foul his own nest.

"Hoping" for a gay child would just be perverse. But, on the other hand, many people wouldn't give it much thought one way of another.

I would hope that a parent's priority would be helping their child live as happy a life as possible.

As a society, we are on a path toward understanding that aberrant sexuality is a question of how one treats one's partner not that partner's gender. It's only a matter of time; the genie's out of the bottle, not to mention out of the closet.

Only those parents who don't want grandchildren.

For the record, I hope that my son does not turn out to be gay. I also hope that he doesn't become a MCP, either.

What would happen if they found out that nurture, not nature determined sexuality, and they figured out how to make it very likely a child grows up to be straight, do you think there would be opposition?

What if they find out that pigs fly.

They're not going to find out that gay people are made.

How in the world would you raise a child to ensure a straight adult?

I would think that in a minority of cases, it's nurture, not nature. I grew up with a few kids who turned out to be gay. In ALL cases, it was not a surprise. Everyone saw it coming. They all displayed effeminate characteristics from a very young age.

Just as genetics dictate our gender, genetics also dictate our sexual preference. Given the abuse and discrimination that gays have historically received, I can't see how someone could consciously make the decision to become gay.

And I'm about to leave for Virginia for the Holiday weekend so you can stew on that too.

BE ran a crappy campaign. I know people who worked for BE and were pissed at the way he ran. I did not vote for MOM in 2010.

There are much more intelligent ways of sending that message than by using thousands of gay couples lives as a political game. Quite honestly, I find that idea repugnant, and I'd hope most people (if they thought to stop about the true ramifications) would think the same.

Again, you're not going to stick it to O'Malley by blocking thousands of gay couples from marrying. Please consider another route for doing so that doesn't involve using other people as collateral.

LOL, then stay the heck away from them!

Just messing , Mitch. We disagree on most things but I'm sure you're a decent person. What you want for your kids is what most of us want. I can honestly say I'd rather my kid not be gay, but if she was, thats out of my control, so I wouldn't waste too much energy on that.

OK I'll push the chips to the middle of the table. Tell me 5 intelligent ways how I can send MOM a message I am unhappy that will have an impact. Besides gay marriage may fail in 2012 but sooner or later SCOUTS will have a say. I support gay marriage but if its failure stops MOM from becoming President I would vote no.
I will not support the Dream Act and its passage would benefit me financially.
